Very nice place, helpfull staff and great atmoshpere. We enjoyed our stay in Catania.
Nice hostel in a central location. Everything was clean. The restaurant downstairs turns into a bar which is great for atmosphere but bad for sleep. WiFi was fine in the room and spotty on the lobby. I thought it could be more secure but it wasn't too bad. Would recommend.
Alessandro who works at the desk in the evenings is absolutely fabulous and I would recommend this hostel to anyone because of him. He is so helpful and will assist you with any travel assistance/recommendations you require. He goes above and beyond the normal hostel staff you find on the road, even among his own peers at this hostel!
The room was supposed to be 8 person but there was another room inside it so the people staying g there had to cross through our room in order to get in and out. There was no key for the room so anyone could go in. I liked that the bathrooms were separated for men and women and the bar outside was nice.
Good hostel, nice and helpful staff, nice to have a kitchen, and there's a market next door - made some great meal and spent less than a restaurant meal :)! (Breakfast's nothing, go to market and cafe bar- so good &cheap!) The beds are not great and it is noisy with bar and train right next to the hostel, but I didn't mind for 2 nights, nice balcony. Just make sure you google map it before because it can be confusing to get to, it's tucked in a back street of the Piazza di Duomo and market.
Trying to find the place is interesting but if you follow the directions given, you can easily figure it out. Good place for few nights and tours to empty Etna. Staff were very accomodating and spoke good English. Located close to the markets which is a plus for local fruit, veg and meats. Showers were good, and always clean. Security was our only problem, our room door could not be closed/locked but there were individual lockers provided. Can also get very loud with the large bar next door
Perfect location in the centre of town. The adjacent bar/restaurant is really good and popular with locals too. The Etna tour arranged through the hostel is well worthwhile. The provided directions to the hostel are somewhat ambiguous so my advice would be to plan ahead. I later discovered most locals know it by name so don't be afraid to ask.
and the price for best staff in the categorie youthhostels go to Agora! Best experience so far. The breakfast was limited, that's all I can say. really recommend this one!
All in all it was a good stay at Agora hostel. It is VERY close to the train, so there was a lot of noice, when the train passed. The staff was really friendly and was always ready to help if I had any questions! The restaurant/bar next door is also really good and is definately worth a visit (plus there is a really cool cave under the restaurant with a river). There was a good atmosphere and it is a great place to meet new people.

Me and my friends have enjoyed our recent stay at Agora Hostel (it was my second stay at this hostel). There is very helpful and pleasant staff, dorm and bathroom were clean, and also we get a small breakfast, which also was very nice for such price. Localization of hostel is very convenient nearby bus station and city center. At evenings there are a little noisy at the street because of the nearby bar. I recommend this place to stay, its great value for money with perfect localization.
Decent hostel in a great location. Near to the buses that go to the airport/other towns. The staff were friendly. The beds weren't that comfortable and the bottom bunk is so close to the top bunk it's difficult to move! Breakfast was forgettable.
Had a nice stay here, I liked the little curtains for each bunk bed, but the higher bunk is very low giving you very little space if you get the lower bed, you can't really sit. A little misleading when they say small breakfast, it's just coffee/tea and some simple biscuits. Good location, great bar/restaurant attached to the hostel, a block from the famous fish market and two from the main church piazza, close to the bus station as well. Overall it was a nice hostel, would definitely recommend.
A great youth hostel at the heart of Catania, you will enjoy it!
Kitchen is very badly equipped. Why no forks??
Basically everything is fine. If the breakfast can be improved a little bit, it would be perfect (just bread + butter is OK, I think it's much better than the wrapped croissant).
Fantastically located hostel, near the main Piazza of Catania and the fishmarket in the morning. A little noisy from the bar at night, but nothing a pair of earplugs won't solve :) Certainly seems to be a good social hub, if you like that kind of thing!
Wonderful experience. First time staying at a hostel. It was clean, friendly, and safe. I was worried about lockers, but they are huge and right next to your bunk. The first staff member who I talked to was clueless and kinda rude (Elisia?) but then later that night the guy at reception was the best ever. Found me a Mt. Etna tour last minute, was super friendly, and offered lots of great information! Location is prime and the restaurant is awesome. Highly recommend staying here.
It was a very nice time in the hostel. The staff is very helpful. You can ask them about program, bus or train timetable etc. The location is very central, the market is on the corner :)

A good deal for a short stay in Catania. It would be much better if the breakfast is plenty of choice and more utensils are available for cooking, such as kettle, microwave etc
100% recommended! INCREDIBLE staff, so helpful! Everything about Agora is great (save for the paltry breakfast). I previously stayed in Ostello Degli Elefanti in Catania (which is a 2 minute walk across the Piazza Duomo to Agora), and I have to say that Agora takes the win. The space heater in the room was a game-changer. Very cozy! The hostel feels busy/loud because of its restaurant/bar, but I slept really well. There's also an underground wine bar in a CAVE, which, uh, how cool is that?!?!?!!
