It's a fun place, right next to a market and good bar/restaurant. (but this can make it not so peaceful)

Mattras was a bit too hard and I can imagine sleeping next to the railroad would not be comfy either. The hostel's bar/restaurant with live music is highly recommended though!
It was a very nice experience staying at tha Agora Hostel. It is well situated in the heart of the city. The hostel was very well run and the staff were wonderful. The cost was very affordable and even included a small breakfast. I highly recommend this hostel which also has a very happening restaurant which is extremely popular with young people.
a really good place, tuck away beside the market and close to the central square, the staff were helpful from check in to check out and even helped me book a tour up Mt Etna when it was erupting. many thanks
Security of this place is awful. No keys to get in not only the hostel, but hostel rooms. A totally random person could walk right into a dorm room. Staff was friendly, but poor english. Decent kitchen and common room facilities, toilettes and showers were on par.
Nice atmosphere and very helpful owner. Great lockers and kitchen. Do not take €50 Etna tour!!! Find some people in hostel and take the bus. Climbing up is much more satisfying and soo worth it!
Good place to stay, nice staff and provided sufficient guide.
we booked a private room, yet the room is very very small, inside a share dorm. It's not standard private room with queen size bed or twin bed, it's only a two bed dorm inside a 10 shared dorm, and there's no side bars for the bed, dangerous for the person who sleeps above. you can hardly walk around in that room, only can squeeze a fan inside ( I borrowed fan from the staff). The bar below the hostel is very laud cannot sleep at all. Above those negatives, the staff is friendly.

Emphasis on security. Security is lacking. Don't feel secure especially personal belongings
Alessandro is a great host really helpful and friendly kitchen and dining areas way to small for the amount of guests
The hostel is located above a bar/restaurant which every night gets completely packed with people. Everyone in catania goes there. And therefore it is so much noise! It really is impossible to sleep. And there's no aircondition so you can't close the windows. If you have to stay there, bring earplugs. The men's bathroom is terrible, there's no toiletseats and you can't lock the showers. Except for one, but that one is private. WiFi only works in reception. Most of the staff are nice thou.
Rooms dont lock. Toilet dont lock either which means that someones always coming in when youre seating or naked showering. The staff is not very helpfull, everytime i tried to ask something i ended up wayting 15' cause the girl would do everything else but talk to me, like leaving the room in the middle of the conversations. There is no air conditioning: youll sleep eith the door open and youll be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Theres is always a party putside the place, so there is noise (lots)
The bathroom it´s pretty clean, the kitchen too. The girl in the reception during the morning is really nice, but the boy in the afternoon is a little bit rude. The owner (or person in charge) is not the most sympathetic person in the world, but he answer to any question or request that you have.
The Hostel is located just a few blocks aways from the bus stations and form a local market which traveleres can find useful to consult ticketing information and buy some cheap food. Hostel has an eating place just besides it which crumbles with young people every night making it a nice place to hang out and meet people, enjoy a beer or have a bite. But, this also makes it harder to catch sleep as it is very loud with music and people. Large rooms only have a fan to cool down 8+ people.
It is not the most comfortable hostel I've been to. Small bed, vinyl covered mattresses, went tested both dorms and single room, the dorms are ok but the single room were very small. The kitchen is small with only one fridge available for all guests and staff, finaly the place is very noisy. On the bright side the staff is very welcoming and helpful, the location is perfect to visit Catania (very close to the piazza del DUOMO, and near the fish market) and the bathroom are mostly clean.
Staff from the restaurant next door were walking around the hostel in the evenings. Staff very nice and let us print off boarding passes using their computer! Good location to walk to market and main square. Rooms extremely hot, only one floor fan..not uni table for the 3 storey bunk beds in a 7 bed room!!
I found staff were great and very helpful and friendly. Great kitchen. Free breakfast was basic but better than none! Good location. However, there is no air conditioning anywhere in the hostel.
Very good location. I was very concerned about the fact that the dorms dont have keys. Even though there is lockers for each guest, it is a very busy hostel (plus the restaurant open to publin) and people get in and out the premises all the time
I had a very nice experience. The hostel is very hot so we were slepping with the fans on all the time (in the room there were 3 of them!)
