Magnums has a big BED BUGS problem. It may not be their fault but they do have a responsibility to try and keep them under control. I stayed at Magnums twice in recent weeks and both times the dorm rooms had bugs - also heard of many other rooms with bugs. Despite showing them photos they still tried to deny it. Also... kitchen is tiny and pretty useless. Ensuite bathroom only had a half-door so no privacy noise-wise when doing your business. Aircon on timer so u cant control it.. Noisy bar.

Perfectly located in Airlie Beach. It's a big, loud hostel set in a tranquil jungle-like setting. The kitchen has basically nothing in it, so don't plan to cook anything, but apart from that it's a pretty cool place to be.

There was a bunk infested with bed bugs in room 29. Thankfully it was not mine, but the poor girl who had to sleep on it was covered the next am! the cleaners just sprayed with general bug spray and gave her new sheets, this is not how bed bugs should be treated. It is a serious matter that need to be handled in a more serious way. Fridge in kitchen area kept breaking down, and all our food went off.. Atmosphere was great! great vibe and loved the location. Great bands playing !!

Avoid this place. It's infested with bed bugs. I've never had so many bites on my body in my life's i had to even go to hospital and Spend €80 or more on creams aNd tablets.

Living in the rainforest. It is pretty alright and it has a busy on-site bar which is always a plus. Rooms are not clean at all and you don't take sheets with you to the reception when you check-out. It's easier, but then the cleaners don't know which beds to make cause a lot of people stay only for couple of nights. My sheets weren't changed when I arrived. Free wi-fi, but it's very slow. Luggage storage very secure, I left majority of my stuff there during my whitsunday trip.

The only thing to complain is the kitchen. It is in a very poor condition!

Great location in Airlie Beach, friendly staff and free internet. Rooms are ok...really big but pretty basic. Rooms by the bar are super noisy but I stayed there twice and the second time was much quieter. Poor kitchen facilities...one new 'breakfast room' with microwave, fridges etc but no plates or cutlery. Then one tiny old kitchen tucked right away at the far end, one working hot plate ring, generally pretty awful ì you want to be self catering.

It was like staying in cabins in the forest. There is a bar right next to the hostel and a restaurant with mediocre food. The double/twin room cabins have very thin walls. On the last night there were a couple in the adjoining room with blaring music and dancing until late. The kitchen is somewhat under stocked with only one sharp chopping knife that people have to alternate using. The women at reception are helpful but always really busy and sometimes it took ages to be served.

The bathrooms aren't very private, but apart from that, this is a good place to stay - I liked how the rooms where all amongst the forest

The hostel has everything you need: a bar, excellent staff, bbq, two kitchens, free wifi and is in the centre of the city close to shops, bars, clubs and the beach! It is cheap as well so definitely a great place to stay for couple of days!!

Great location, lovely staff. BBQ and wifi area could be slightly bigger but having said that we never had any issues with overcrowding. Room smelled a bit musty at first but it was no big deal. Had a great stay and I've continued to recommended to all on my travels

i really like it here. Good location, clean rooms with their own bathrooms per suite and a neat feel. The bar was fun, the internet good when I could connect and the overall atmosphere was nice. The front desk staff was helpful in booking me a second nights accommodation, and there are good deals to be had if you stay mutliple days. You can party here or relax. Will hold your luggage while you are on your boat for a fee. Would stay again. Really liked Airlie beach too.

Not an immediately warm welcome, made slightly worse by being told that had we booked direct (rather than through Hostelworld.com) we would have got a night for free! However the hostel was in the middle of the Main Street, close to the beach / lagoon, with plenty of amenities nearby. Very helpful member of staff on departure, giving us some great advice on where to go next and what to see nearby.
