There are small lockers available but you need to bring your own padlock :( However, the staff will keep laptops behind the front counter for you! Great lounge area with lots of room. Wi-fi was strong even in my room up on the 3rd floor. They also have a good assortment of drinks and travel items (such as the Malaysian plug adapter) for sale by the counter 24 hours a day. Very good location in downtown, about 10 minutes walk from a big market and even closer to other food. Will stay there again!

Stayed 4 Night in Jan 2012. Very helpful staff. Very clean (sheets, bed, floors). The bathrooms were clean, had hot water, and a drying clothes area. The location is great; has 24 hour restaurants, drugstores, and pharmacies. Great common area with good space, large tv, DVDs to watch, and public computers with internet (wifi available). Simple breakfast of toast and coffee. Everything is in walking distance for the ferry terminal, a large mall, and harbor.

I stayed for 3 nights and the hostel is a lovely place to unwind and relax. There is no bar but the living area is nice and open and great places to sit back and read a good book. Dorms are good, no lockers but the place is locked at the front door to the hostel so u need to be buzzed in everytime. Location was great. Make sure to go to the night markets on the waterfront and try the fresh seafood with the locals...well worth it!! Also take a day to island hop and enjoy the many water activities

Very clean and tidy. Computers with free internet was excellent. Rooms are a bit dark as they have indoor facing windows but there is a nice, bright, airy common area.

I love this place, clean, homey atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, strategically located, makes it easy to find food all around the clock. Would strongly recommend anybody to stay here when visiting KK. But, you need to update directions on reaching the hostel by bus from the airport though. We actually had to take 2 buses to get to Akinabalu not 1, first from the aiport to terminal kawasan, then from terminal kawasan to the city center. Cheers!

Near to shops and pubs. Safe and pretty clean. Don't forget to bring your own towel and soap though!

Though the sheets are given, it seems like the pillow case was not. The wifi was also unstable.

Hostel staff were friendly and super helpful. Would pay extra for air con. The street the hostel is in is good and everything you need is close by. However, to walk to the waterfront area (markets, restaurants, shoppin centres) was not a nice walk by yourself. But thats not the hostel, its the town. Would stay here again.

We stayed at Lucy's first, and although she's friendly and the atmosphere is nice, it was too small for so many people. It was simply too hot... So it was really nice to have a big common area with a breeze in Akinabalu hostel! The place is very clean, people are friendly and we had a double room for a good price.

Very homey hostel. Very clean and calm in a great location. Free internet, tv, area to chill out very welcoming. The beds arent the best but they do the job. Stayed here again by choice and would recommend to anyone doing KK on a budget!
