Hostel doesn't supply comforters for free - there is a charge. The bar is neat and locals do come by but the noise from the street can be heard past midnight from the rooms.

We loved that there was a sauna in the basement which we didn't know about until arrival. We got there on a holiday and the main floor is a public bar so it was pretty noisy but a fun environment. The staff were friendly, relaxed and helpful. Rooms were cleaned. The breakfast didn't seem like it was worth paying for (just over priced for what you get) but we loved the free drink ticket you get on arrival.

Stayed here with my wife and two grown up kids in a 4 bed dorm. Clean and tidy, but the party noise from the dorm next door went on till 3.00 am. Not good when you have a 5 hour drive to Reykjavik. Supposed to keep the noise down from 23.00-06.00 but that didn't happen. Pack the earplugs! Other than that it was sound.

We loved this hostel. It was also a bar so the environment was great. There was a band when we were there too! There is also a kitchen so you have other options of you don't want to eat out. We were able o meet lots of other travelers and had a blast the nights we stayed.

It was a clean, laidback hostel with character. We mostly just slept there and didn't use the facilities much, but from what we saw it was clean, well maintained and functional. Would definitely stay again.

really enjoyed the city of Akureyi, and this hostel played a big part! the staff are great, kind, really helpful. rooms are standard, nice and clean. the food there is pretty great as well. the only thing is that it can be pretty loud during the evenings since its also a restaurant, and there's not much of an area for the guests to cook and eat. the wifi is only good on the bottom level, not so much upstairs

It was a very nice and cool hostel, the best place to stay in this little town.

Best place to stay in Akureyri as a backpacker! Excellent location and the staff is very helpful.

I loved this hostel. It has a great vib and the bar is great. Unless it's a weekend their isn't any night life except the bar. It is a bit of a ways to the grocery store. The only real complain is the lack of outlets in the hostel.

Loved the friendly staff. They gave us good tips and made us feel welcome! Would highly recommend this hostel :)

This place has a bar on the ground floor which makes it quite cool. The only thing is that we have to had downstairs for showers. Good thing that the showers were in very good conditions and cleanliness. Even has a Sauna room! Staff was very nice and friendly too.

Akureyri Backpackers was really great. The rooms were clean (top bunk had a bar across the middle, but I still could sleep), the showers were divine and it wasn't a big deal they were in the basement. The staff was very helpful in booking tours and giving advice about the little city. And the food is amazing. Good value for staying up north!

Lovely hostel in akureyri. Friendly staff and quite helpful with bookings as well.. Good value for money if traveling alone..

Very good value for money

In short - I would stay here again. Good location, nice rooms, cleaned daily and the bar makes some okay burgers (although pricey). They do charge extra for anything above a mattress (sheets etc), and the staff are a little hit and miss. The bar is open to anyone, so expect locals and loud late night jams to happen frequently- does make it a little difficult to meet people and the showers are through the bar which could be a little awkward for some. But other than that, really good!
