Pros: Helpful staff (we got an extra pillow and blanket right after asking), prices, GREAT LOCATION. Cons: Floor kitchen is actually no floor kitchen due to lack of stove, oven, microwave etc, room temperature was a bit too low.

Location is what its all about, but with that u get a bit of late night drunken noise. If u are part of that, its fine! Otherwise all good (except the blanket was too small for 2 people - cuddle up!)   Read Owner Comments

Ala Hostel is very central and quite newly renovated. It was a shame that the bar downstairs was closed and that there was no breakfast. It is a nice hostel. I enjoyed staying there. Beds were clean and very comfy.

The staff were friendly and helpful. However the hostel did let us down at the first night, telling that our room was not available even when reserved almost two months beforehand. The staff were terribly sorry about the misunderstanding, and luckily got us a room from a hostel nearby for the first night. The restaurant was closed during our stay, and the shower's drain didn't work properly. The hostel could need a common room. Anyway a nice place to stay!

The only problem was the noise from the street, the disco music from the street, and it's difficult to sleep in the night. And in summer you must have the window open because it's hot.

Given it's excellent location and size, it could be the best hostel around, but it's lacking a number of things and we found the internet description quite deceptive. The guest kitchen is actually just a kettle and in some of the small "kitchens" (sink & bench) a toaster, but no means to cook with. The restaurant/bar was closed. It needs laundry facilities. We found the showers and toilets to be quite dirty, with a musty/damp smell. Layout is quite segregated and dark. Staff helpful enough.

It's a nice clean place in the very-very center. A real bargain for its price! Though there's no lively common room and no brekfast, there's a good supermarket round the corner and dozens of bars. Good staff. I had lots of fun the day i spent there, Marius was a very nice host )
