The staff was really great! They were really genuine and wanted us to have the best experience we could in Barcelona. The location was not very good, as it was quite a walk to get to the beach and other attractions. It was a huge benefit to have lockers, but it was unfortunate to have to pay to rent a towel. Also the bathrooms were really small.

Very good place to stay in Barcelona. Close to the metro and by 5 min walk to the Rambla. Very clean and staff is very nice. The only negative point has nothing to do with the hostel but with some people who don't pay attention to others making a lot of noise after midnight. So please if you come in a youth hostel, don't forget you're not alone and do not disturb your roommates in the middle of the night.

Had a fantastic time at Albereda, staff were friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about the area. Met a lot of people and made some really great friends. Found it very easy to get a group together and head out to a bar or nightclub, and the staff will recommend some if you're not sure where to go. Facilities are cleaned everyday and even the cleaner will go out of her way to help you. Location was great with a short walk to Las Ramblas and many other places. I will be back, on my return trip.

Nice hostel. Quiet except that during our stay 1- they accepted a baby. And the baby cried at night and 2- one of the hosts was keen on partyingand organised a party in the common area. Great if you're in Barcelona to party I guess but if you think the party is outside... Also, breakfast is NOT included.

The hostel was overall very nice but there was an odd atmosphere because those who stayed there felt as if they were being constantly monitored. There was also pressure to socialize with others which made for awkward situations. Some of the staff seemed uninviting, others were helpful, one in particular was very helpful but a little overwhelming.

This hostel is a roof over your head, a place to shower and put your bag, nothing more. It isn't the sort of place where you'll meet other travellers which is half the point of travelling.

I would say this is the best hostel to stay in Barcelona. All of the staff is wonderful, and each night they have sponsored events for little to no charge for their patrons. If you don't choose to stay here first, I'd say your making a bad decision.

Really enjoyed my stay here... Just one member of staff a little incompetent since he gave my locker key to someone else but all other staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely showers and clean rooms. Would come back here for sure.

I loved staying at Albareda! The staff treated us like family, and took excellent care of us. The rooms were very clean, and everyone could have their own locker, though they were big enough that you could fit two people's things in one, which was helpful because the cost of renting the locker was not included in the room price, though it was only a couple euro. The organized events, such as sangria night, were excellent and gave everyone in the hostel an opportunity to get to know each other.

6 nights. Staff was great, security was deciding factor. Food in Barca is pricey and AYH recommendations at least had good quality for the €. I had 1 incident with bachelor party of 3 men booked 1 night in the same room with me. The men were drunk & impolite & the staff was fortunately (& much appreciated) able to move me to a different room. Suggest club promoters in the lobby less & just post sign up sheet & collect before heading out. Working DVD & movies would be nice & umbrellas to lend too

The staff were amazing at suggesting things to do. The location is amazing and walking distance to everything. I ran every day from the hotel up into the park close to the hostel where the Olympic stadium is. Wonderful. Parking was not easy but there a close 24 hour locations.

If you like a party hostel, this is the one for you as management encourage loud music and parting after 10pm. If you like to sleep at night, try another place. The location was great and the most endearing feature for me with this hostel.

Albareda was fantastic! Had such a fun stay, the facilities were all really clean and the receptionists were more than friendly. We went out with the hostel a few times at night and needless to say, it was a crazy fun time. Will be back soon!

Although the title says youth hostel there seemed to be a lot of older people staying in the dorms. Also while we were there girls had bags stolen from them right outside the door while waiting to be let in to the hostel at night.

I was mugged outside the entrance - this was a first time occurrence - so if anyone decided to walk back from Las Ramblas - it is likely that you will be followed as a tourist. I had a small cross the body bag and someone just pulled the bottom off the straps. (straps were thin) Hostel is lovely but just be careful. If you take a bag with thin straps - hold it at the bottom at all times.
