Great place to stay! Staff is very nice, you can take a bike whenever you want and ask them anything. Lots of flies in room is the only negative thing.

This is a really nice cosy hostel, great if you want to hang out and chat in the common room. The only downside were all the flies in the kitchen, otherwise, I really recommend this hostel, it was fantastic with good character and Joe at reception is just lovely!

Communal food evening was lovely and the staff are great. Dorm repeatedly left unlocked on my first day there which I found disturbing but that may have been other guests rather than staff. Nice atmosphere throughout the hostel :)

The location and atmosphere of this hostel are mainly good. The owner is very nice and extremely helpful with booking trips etc. But there were too many things we really didn't like. The worst part was the "bathroom" - one can't really call it that. There are showers (that are reasonably clean and usable) and two steel sinks that were blocked with hair and other dirt most of the time. There's one more sink on one of the floors. So all in all THREE sinks for everyone who's staying. And and and...

That was the first hostel I really felt like as it was a "home away from home". Such a cosy atmosphere with the piano, guitars, sofas, art, NO TV and relaxing music. I would definitely come back!

I'm quite neutral about this hostel. What I dislike the most is its location - it's not close to town while there are hostels right across from the bus stations and i-site. The kitchen is not very good either - kind of dirty and you basically need to prepare everything yourself if you wanna cook a good meal.

Twin room was supersmall, kitchen too crowded and not too tidy, but over all ok.

A wonderful hostel, great location two mins to the beach. Clean, comfortable and quiet place. Great atmosphere, everyone is really friendly. The hosts Ben and Katie are brilliant and will do anything for you, don't be afraid to ask, nothing is too much trouble. Excellent BBQ put on every few days, everyone eats together like a family which makes for a great atmosphere. No tv here which encourages conversation. No lockers in room, but draws to lock stuff up in. Best hostel in kaikoura!

Really nice hostel with a great atmosphere and decoration. Good, comfortable dorms and nice facilities. Dorms have plenty of storage space although lockers would be useful, especially given the rooms rarely seemed to be locked.

Pretty solid hostel. A bit annoying that all the facilities are spread out within it, but not much you can change about that. Nice vibe of the place and a nice lounge and kitchen. A short walk from town so it's quiet but accessible to shops. I'd recommend it.

Maybe a revamp on showers. Couple of more toilets might be good too. Great kitchen. Lovely atmosphere. Good fire shows. Chilled out atmosphere.
