This hostel has great character, it was easy to meet people and the staff were really friendly. There's free tea, coffee and hot chocolate and it's in a quiet location just outside town. The facilities were a little bit dated but I suppose that just adds to the character. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it.

I stayed in 3 different rooms during my visit, I stayed in a smaller room when my friend was staying with me, then I moved to a larger dorm room that had wonderful privacy curtains on each bed, and my final 2 nights I stay in my own room. They were all clean, the staff was helpful moving me around, and it felt very safe. I didnt need to hide or lock anything up. The first night I was there they had a group BBQ for $5 and it was a great way to meet everyone and socialize.

this was a nice hostel. I especially liked the barbecue they offered Saturday night. Definitely worth the $5 they charged. I would definitely recommend this hostel to friends.

This is easily one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. I think because it had a music area and painting area it attracted a really nice groupnof people. The staff and long term residents were friendly and even made cake to share. I can't recommend it enough really!

A Fantastic hostel. The atmosphere was brilliant and felt really homely. Free tea and coffee are a big bonus. And Katie, Ben and Jon are so helpful and the best staff you could have asked for.

The Albatross Backpacker in Kaikoura is simply the best hostel i\'ve ever stayed in. Didn\'t want to leave! It has everything you could want, the staff are all great and really felt like friends by the end of my 6 days there. They have a variety of instruments and we had some great jams. There\'s board games, paints, books, herb garden and a baking box for cake making! Even when it was raining i had a great time relaxing in the hostel.
