Too noisy, very difficult to sleep due so many drunk idiots coming in and out of their rooms screaming loud. The spanish recepcionist was very very helpful at arrival.

The Albatross is close to the train station, easy to find, and it is near the heart of the city. The owners and the staff are great and my stay there enjoyable. There is plenty to do in Newcastle and the surrounding area. Don't miss Durham and the cathedral. At least three days is advisable and, if you like the nightlife, plan on a weekend visit.

This hostel is a bit big and quiet. Facilities are fine, but there just isn't much life to the place. We made our own fun in the kitchen and met some people to go out with there, but that was mostly luck. No complaints about the beds, bathrooms or rooms though.

Wifi only works in the common area. otherwise a very nice hostel. Good location, everything is clean and the staff were very friendly. I liked the common areas, they were comfortable and made you feel at home with a large tv and a big kitchen. Lots of space.

Great location, very friendly staff, and nice communal areas including a tv and kitchen. Only pet peeves are there aren't lockers in the rooms and wifi is only in common areas, but otherwise a great hostel!

lovely place to stay disappointing pool table was broken and unable to use, was very noisy due to a drunken party of men on a stag do.

Pros: Super good staff, very friendly and helpful. Great location. Nice hot water. Cons: No locker in room; Only 1 power socket in room for 12 people, although staff cam help charging in the front desk but still inconvenient. Generally it is a nice hostel and I enjoyed my stay. But telling people "the best hostel in England" is bluffing...Apparently I have seen better ones.

We visited Newcastle during the week, and Albatross was empty, which for us, was a good thing. It was quiet, so it gave us a chance to really talk to the people we met. The breakfast could've done with a little jam or juice. It was literally just toast and butter, which isn't really enough for a day of walking.

The location of the hostel is perfect. You can reach everything by feet: shops, supermarkets, pubs etc. There is free WIFI in the common areas as well as free coffee, tea and toast. The room we slept in was a little bit small but definitely enough to just sleep there. The beds were very comfortable and there were warm blankets.
