The place is not a "hostel" at all nor an "albergo" : a poor apartment with no common living space at all, Difficult to find, no signs anywhere. No heating at all in the rooms. An awkward "bathroom" - very tiny toilet with foldable door / two tiny showers same style. No sign of breakfast in the (clean but dead) kitchen. I immediately decided to stay for one night only - despite the difficult time in Lisbon. But the lady refused to refund the deposit (Hostelword she said). Very disappointing !

Dear guest, unfortunately you were the wrong guest at wrong place. Your "style" isn´t to stay in the any kind of hostel. Our Albergo Odisseo Lisbon Hostel is a low-cost accommodation. All informations are clear in our hostelworld´s profile and we dont hide informations. You told " Difficult to find"...how? Today we have Google map, Street view, Windows map and many ways to find anything before to travel... and the most simple thing: address. What part of our address that you not understood? Please, tell us! In 5 years we never offer the breakfast but our kitchen is available for all. We are sorry that you had cold, but you should mention about it because we have extra-blankets available and a portable heater. Most of the hostels in Lisbon close to the center are located in centenarian buildings and are not prepared with central heating. An awkward "bathroom"? Bathroom is bathroom... you didn´t shared the WC with nobody and you had all hostel for you... our common living space is closed after midnight, you has arrived at the hostel 2am but what do you would like? We have rules. If you decided to stay for one night only it´s was your choice and we aren't guilty because you had a difficult time in Lisbon. You decided to stay at your friend´s home... maybe he was not so welcoming like you wanted. Bad luck, sorry... and a smile on the face and friendliness sometimes change everything... Next time choose another kind accommodation not so "poor". We have pride of our Albergo Odisseo! Because an "hostel" and "Ritz" are totally different. The difference was in your wallet and your low budget. We are very disappointing with you also. Happy new year! Albergo Odisseo´s Staff

it was extreeeeemely cold, because there was no spare heater in the room, nor the central heating system. Therefore, it was unpleasant to sleep and have humid clothes/shoes, because they would not dry in the room which was colder than the weather outside. otherwise, it was nice that the hostel was so calm and the staff was super helpful and attentive. the surrounding streets might look empty and dodgy, but the neighborhood is really safe.

Dear guest! First we would like to thank you for choosing our hostel for the time that you spent in Lisbon. We are sorry that you had cold, but I should mention that our staff was available to make you feel as better as possible. We should remember you that we put the heater close to your room and for one time inside the room. On the bed was one duvet and more two blankets and we provided you with one more blanket, so saying that was colder inside the room than in the street is completely exaggerated and nonsense, when on the street was 7 or 8oC during the night and 15, 16oC during the day inside the room was clearly more, maybe to be in t-shirt was cold. Most of the hostels in Lisbon close to the center are located in centenarian buildings and are not prepared with central heating. However in our hostel we have heaters in public areas and our staff advised you, if you would feel that the room would be fresh, to open the door of the room for a few time to let the warm getting inside, and you could do that in safety way because it would be always someone of our staff taking care of your room. About the wet clothes we are sad that you didn´t tell us anything because we could dry them and help you on that problem. Hope to see you in spring or summer, for sure it will be warmer on that time. Kind Regards.

A very sweet hostel that I would recommend to all. The staff members are very friendly, helpful, give great insight into Lisbon, and are happy to chat. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the main part of town, so a good location. I booked a twin room for myself which was very nicely furnished and had a lovely view over the city, towards the sea. It's not a "party hostel" (which suited me just fine), and I felt as though I was staying at someone's house. I would definitely come back here!

Perfect place for a couple that is interested on a cosy, clean, friendly an quiet place to spend a few nights in Lisbon. Lovely staff, very nice, helpfully and patient, always giving nice tips to visit. Great location, 15 minutes walking from all main attractions and easy to find, has also a great view from the room. We loved the vintage decoration! Definitely a great choice to stay in Lisbon.

I'd recommend Odisseo to all, who prefer style, comfort, kind staff, good yet quiet location. I only wish they had an elevator in the building, but apart from this, everything was really fine! Would reserve again if we return to Lisbon.

I would return to this hostel in a heartbeat. If you're looking for a quiet, clean, charming hostel that has wonderful staff and is only a 10 minute walk from the down town, this is the place to go. The kitchen is quite large, so if your plan is to cook, that's not a problem. We stayed in the double bed room; the bed was comfortable, there were beautifully high ceilings, I would recommend this hostel to anyone looking for this type of environment.

One of the nicest hostels i ever stayed. A very nice and clean place. The staff is very friendly and helps you a lot. It's no place for having party so if you are looking for this choose another hostel. But if you are looking for a quiete place to stay some days this is defnetely the best place in lisbon. i liked it a lot.

Very nice location in a common Lisboa house close to the town centre. Very open, frienfly and heplful staff. Good location for public transport at Av. Da Liberdade and for eating out all over the day - we recommend Rua de Sao Jose.

It is NOT hard to find this place like some other reviewers stated. And some reviewers complained about the bathrooms. I found the bathrooms to be super clean, and they are one-at-a-time style bathrooms. So even though they are shared with other rooms, you have the bathroom all to yourself while using it. At least on the second floor with some of the private rooms. The service is outstanding!!! They happily and patiently give a lot of information to everyone. Location is pretty good too.

Staff were great and very eager to help! I would recommend to anyone wanting to be close to downtown yet a little out of the way so it is not to loud, only about a 10 minute walk away. Hostle was clean and decorated very nicely.

It's on top of a very steep hill, so I wouldn't bring a lot of suitcases. And the walls are quite thin so you can hear the person next door snooring.. But other than that it is a nice place, with a really friendly and helpful staff! The bathroom is clean, and there is a cozy kitchen as well.

Had a great stay at this hostel. Was a bit hard to find as not well sign posted outside the building though, and we were lucky to have small luggage as was on the 3rd floor. Nice view over Lisbon. Vanessa was a very helpful and friendly host. Our beds were even made for us! Now that's what I call service with a smile!

Excellent staff, very helpful and pleasant. The hostel is in a good location and has a lot of charm. Extremely clean and cozy!

Besides the location which is perfect if you got the car to park while visiting the centre, the hostel is pretty poor with a small kitchen and even smaller bathroom. Anyway the staff is nice and smiley and the rooms are cozy, even if there's no wardrobe.

Dear guests, First, we would like to thank you so much for having stayed with us at the Albergo Odisseo. We just would like to remember you that is a hostel and not a Ritz. (normaly we found wardrobe there) We think that your comment saying that Albergo is pretty poor because we have a small kitchen is a bit unreal. Maybe, next time you should reserve a camping, very often they have a large and open area with a lot of space. We only can´t garantee that you will have everything cleaned and well care. Best regards!

This is a gem of a small guest house in a historical building in Lisbon. The rooms are simple, but nice. Every member of staff could not have been more friendly helpful and courteous. I definitely recommend it.
