the one thing that really bugged me was that the gate to the dorms was only locked late at night. i know plett is a very posche town, but it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone, so why chance it? keep that gate locked at all times - many other hostels do. also, please make sure taxi rates are clearly explained to travelers ... it is not fun arguing with a taxi driver in a country you have never been to. also may want to upgrade the kitchen stove - it is quite ancient.

They had a comfortable sleeping arrangements and clean, accessible bathrooms. The backpacker is located in the heart of town so its walking distance from all the best bars. Or if you are staying in for a braai, pool and drinks, they have a fridge stocked with beer that you take on the honesty system and pay for upon check out! We only stayed here for one evening but it was definitely a great hostel choice.

Nice place with a cool vibe and great social areas - hanging around in the hammocks, having a Braai was great. The staff (except for the woman I assume is the owner) were essentailly uselees, they couldnt help with any queries and basically just said to come back when the owner is there. In fairness they did appear to be being trained. The bed was not very comfortable and was rock hard.
