Its a nice place, free fruits and too close a "red light district" for gringos seeking cheap fun ahahaha

The place was good, although my bed was in a "room within a room" - there was only 2 beds and no air conditioning - and no power outlets - the only power outlets in the room had to be used for fans to keep the room at a suitable temperature for sleep. Everything else about this hostel was awesome :)

The hostel had all the necessary amenities, but the rooms in the 2nd floor has only one toilet for 10 people, which was a problem when you need to leave in a hurry. The location of the hostel was excellent, not just close to the beach, but also groceries and banks were all nearby. It would be preferable having a few more english speaking guys at reception.

Near the beach 1block away :-) . Easy to found from bus station. Huge and delicious breakfast

Do yourself a favor and stay this hostel! I loved my stay here. They staff were extremely nice and friendly, they even took a group of us to Old Town Recife for an unforgettable night. The free breakfast was absolutely delicious and big! GREAT LOCATION-only a few minute walk from Boa Viagem beach. They even have really cool chill out rooms that you can read or watch movies in. Seriously, if you are going to Recife, stay here! I definitely am looking forward to staying at this hostel again.

A really amazing hostel with great atmosphere and really nice and helpful. One of the best I've ever stayed in. Amazing location 3 minutes from the beach! Highly recommended

The building was hard to find. It's around the corner of the address they tell you and at the entrance there is no sign. I had to check out early and they told me to call a cab. That cab never came and I made it to the airport in the very last minute by taking one of the rare cabs that are available at 4:30am in the street. The facilities of the hostel were nice. But Recife doesn't offer a lot and the beaches are a lot nicer more north and south, so I decided to leave after 1night.

You can see the owner puts a lot of work into this hostel and it shows. Overall a excellent hostel in the Recife area. Breakfast was great - lots of variety and plentiful.

Staff couldn't speak english so that caused problems but other than that the hostel itself is great. Best one in Recife!

Great hostel, I would recommend it. There is cold filtered water, a TV room with lots of DVDs for quiet nights, and the breakfast spread is great. Close to the beach and the streets next to the hostel have buses to just about everywhere in Recife.

Really clean hostel, maybe too many rules, but it works quite well. Super good wifi and very nice environment.

The common rooms were really nice and the breakfast was ok. But the free WiFi didn't work at all and there was a building site at the ground floor which started at 8 o'clock in the morning and was really loud! Made it impossible to sleep...

That was my very first time staying in a hostel and I absolutely loved everything on Piratas. The staff really makes you feel as comfortable as if you were at your own home, they're also really helpful with the informations about the city. The atmosphere is great, everybody interacts with each other and share experiences as well in every single room. I loved it! Piratas is very close to the beach, several banks, supermarket, drugstore, restaurants and bars - you have everything right there!

Amazing breakfast. Very nice. Would be great if more staff spoke english, but they are still all very sweet!

Phenomenal attention to details, from the toilet paper setting to the temperature of you coffee. Absolutely amazing atmosphere and staff member who go out of their way to be helpful. Loved it.

Very nice hostel!! Good atmosphere, good location. (ok I was pretty nervous when I noticed that the hostel was in a commercial building). The staff was very gentle and nice since my early check-in. The bedroom was a little small, but no problem, because you don't need to stay much time in bedroom. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of fruit, juices and breads. The bathroom doesn't have hot water, but trust me, you won't need hot water! I recommend this hostel!!!

The showers in the dorms don't have hot water, you have to cross the whole hostel to get to the shower at the reception with hot water. The dorms usually have two smaller rooms inside. I had booked a 6-bed dorm, i got a 7-bed and my dorm was also the entrance to two other rooms. The staff speaks very basic english. To the plus, the good breakfast, quite good wifi and nice common areas.

not enough showers. do not accept cards. not enough sockets in the room. No place to hang the clothes for drying. i could open close my locker without the key. No personal/small lights so if someone is leaving in the middle of the night he/she switches the light for the whole room. additional mattress on the floor does not quite count as bed (plus there was a high chance that i will step on the person sleeping there as there were no much space to avoid it) However, good breakfast/lunch and stuff

Some negatives. The dorm I stayed in was also the location for the laundry room and staff cleaning facilities. Every five minutes the cleaning lady/man was in and out for a mop or to wash/hang out clothes. Very annoying and no privacy from staff. Also seems that this hostel has an identity crisis, hotel or hostel? Breakfast is cleaned away then staff begin to prepare lunch in case anyone wants to buy it for R$16? Personally I like to be able to access the hostel kitchen to prepare my own (cont)

A really cool place to chill in Recife. Loved it and would come aback straight away.
