Really liked to stay in the Santa Teresa Albergue, especially because of the very friendly and helpful staff. The house is beautiful and the atmosphere is quite and cozy. Location is also very central, you can go by foot to Lapa or take the metro to the beaches.

Antonio is a great character and was very hospitable to us during Carnival. Antonio toured us around Rio on our first night and bought beers for us and for the rest of Carnival his daughter showed us a terrific time at the Carnival blocos! The hostel was always impeccably clean and very secure. The location is central right near the Gloria metro and a short walk to Lapa and several nice restaurants. Only complaints are the computer room should be accessible 24/7 and no air conditioning in rooms.

Nice clean hostel located very close to the Gloria Metro Station. Very friendly staff. Definetly recommended in case you would like to spend some days in Rio without spending much money.

Gloria and Saint Therese is a very interesting neighorhood. A wal up the hill from the hostel and you are in a very artsy area of town. It has a gay/lesbian flavor. The bonde is there. It is a streetcar. It was not running when I was there due to an accident. Should be back up and running soon. Everything was very acessable from the hostel as the metro is close and buses run all the time. The people who run the hostel where very helpful in showing me around and how to get around!

Clean and quiet guesthouse near metro station Gloria. Opposite to the noisy HI hostel, but we did not hear anything -and we were there during Carnival! Antonio (the owner?) is very friendly, speaks English and helped us out with everything we asked and did his best to give us a plesant time.

The hostel is located in a great part of rio with easy access to all the points of interest and nightlife and a metro station on your doorstep. Not as touristy as the copacabana which is great as you get to mingle with real carioca's rather than a million tourist. The hostel itself is exceptionally clean and tidy and the staff "Antonio and Madson" couldn't be more helpful if they tried they give you all the information you could need on where to go and what to see, great people and a great time

this is not an albergue or hostal, it´s a joke: 2 humid rooms in a courtyard, the bathroom in another building (you have to go outdoor to reach it!) amd it´s worst than a train WC (except that it's very clean). Troubles to leave the baggages, to check in and out, even to recharge your phone. It´s not honest at all. I don't mind to stay there but I want to know BEFOREHAND that's so rough. I had lots of problems because of not being able to leave the luggage and not checking e-mail.

The opening hours of receipt of our hostel is on the website When the guest arrives, we explain the rules and give the keys to enter and leave at any time Our hostel has a main house with 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, an internet room with three computers available and the reception Besides the main house we have an annex with two rooms and a bathroom that is a distance of only 6 meters these rooms The guest did not use the internet but the computers were available in addition we also have wi-fi All rooms have electrical plugs, unfortunately the Brazilian pattern is different from the European Travelers usually bring adapters we have adapters but he also did not request With respect to moisture clarified that Rio de Janeiro is a city with an average index of the relative humidity around 80% in addition during the stay it rained non-stop Our rooms are painted once a year and use products against moisture He asked to keep your luggage after checkout we agree but he has not left suitcases simply walked away and took everything Joke in very bad taste he left was a dirty towel with stools and we had to throw it in the trash

Everyone here was really lovely and so happy to help. Real family hostel. The location worked out really well for carnaval too, street parties all around! there isn´t any breakfast but there are free bananas and coffee available all the time, as well as a kitchen. Well priced compared to others during this time.

We\\\'ve been here for 7 nights during the carnaval!! it was really nice to stay here! tstaff was greet & very helpfull! the only thing is that they don\'t speak English very well. Location is very nice.it\'s on the bottom of the mountain between Santa Teresa and Gloria! there are not many tourist and that was what we liked!! So if you wanna be a local and not a gringo/gringa and you love the nature and culture, you should defenitly go to this hostel!!! Ciao!

By far one of the best places I ever stayed. The owner, Antonio, took me for rides in the lush rainforest around the city & the Sugar Loaf and also told me lots of interesting things about Rio. His place is a nice old house in a quiet street of S. Teresa, very near to Gloria subwaystation. To my mind, a peaceful place with genuine people is the best thing one could encounter while traveling. Here you will find such a place.
