Nice atmosphere in the hostel with a nice breakfast. Staff wasn't very helpful or friendly.

Not so clean. Hostel ideal just for backpackers who wants a crazy experience. But, very good location!

Really enjoyed my stay at Vila Carioca The highlight for me was when staff took the initiative to oranize a mini pre-Carnaval party and we had an awesome Jam with Pandeiros and drums and signning and dancing! Great living in a hostle really met some great people and experienced a sense of community - special thansk to Danny for taking me dancing on my last night - it was awesome!!!!

The best hostel I have stayed at by far. The one thing I would look out for is people taking your food in the fridge. Overall, an excellent place to stay!

Had a great stay. Breakfast is great. Air con is not all the time and it gets quite hot during the day. No luggage storage. Staff and people staying there were great

Stayed during Carnival so expensive. Location is good 2 blocks from metro. Supermarket, restaurants and 2 nightclubs nearby. Kitchen too small for a hostel with this capacity. 15 bed dorm has five 3 bed bunks, so it's very tight getting in and out of bed and not much room for bags. But all in all, an ok hostel.

I stayed in this hostel for the Rio Carnaval and had the most amazing time, its Carnival so it was overpriced but so was the rest of Rio. Its in a great location between Lapa and the Beaches so really central and in a safe area. The rooms are pretty basic which is what you would expect from a 14 bed dorm but the atmosphere was great. Great place to meet people, the hostel has a really cool courtyard bar and the staff are really helpful in organising trips and transport.

I really enjoyed my stay. The location is excellent, the breakfast good, and when we had a problem with noisy and disrespectful roommates they acted immediatelly and ask them to leave, because they were not following basic hosteling rules.

The 14 bed dorm was very cramped. But apart from that it was a great hostel with good staff.

The staff were great, they went above and beyond what we expected from them. The facilites were always kept clean and our room was very comfortable. Thank you so much for organising all of our tickets and our snail head costumes for Carnaval... we had sooooo much fun. We had a fantastic time with everyone staying in the hostel and we will tell the world about it. I can not recomment this hostel enough it was fantastic the best hostel i have stayed at throughout the world. Great job.

Felt like my skin was crawling all night, but I'm hoping it was down to mosquitoes!

The stay here was ok! The breakfast was quite good but I didn't like the dorm very much. It is very annoying that the beds are so low so that it's hard to get in and you always bump your head, better choose one of the upper beds if you have the chance! Also don't forget to bring protection against moskito, the room doesn't have any nets or so, so there are lots of them. Unfortunately the staff is not very good, not very friendly or willing to help, more busy with their own stuff (p.e.facebook)

Very nice little hostel in a safe neighbourhood with very helpful staff. However, the twin room we were given is a catastrophy, the bunk bed was falling apart and the room was too small to open our bags! The toilet was next to our room and we heard everything. However we saw that the double rooms are much better.

Very good breakfast. Our private room on the last floor was situated right under the roof and so was way too hot inside even at night when it was chilly outside. We booked with hostelworld for a whole week. We then booked for another night from the hostel directly for when we got back from ilha grande 3 days later. When we arrived at 9 pm the girl at the reception could not find our booking, would not admit the hostel's fault and would not give us another room for the same price.

A very noisy place with not enough place in the room....
