Broken window in #205 means people can see in when you have a shower unless you rig up a curtain with your towel. No water in shower - you have to ask someone to turn it on. Fan in room only works if the light is on - so stupid. Half the lights in the place are out so this hostel is generally dark. There seemed to be a lack of pillowcases (and some pillows). The curtain in # 205 is so thin it did nothing to shield the morning sun. Major lack of powerpoints. Very noisy. I wouldn't stay here again
Staff was cool and helpful. Eclectic place, which is fun. Security good, felt safe. Was no hot water for my shower, so it was quick :-) overall, just needed a place for the night and Aldea totally worked.

A large hostel with a lot of young staff from all over the world means there's a melting pot of different people to meet here! In terms of facilities the kitchen is pretty standard and the hostel has two computers that you are free to use. It's a little out of the centre of San Jose, but at the same time it is close to the cities main park and close to transport to neighbouring towns. Also just 100m away from the bus stop too and from the airport - convenient when you've travelled a long way!!
We stayed here twice at either end of a very busy week. First time we had a night in dorms - very comfortable, good mattresses and a great night's sleep. Second time we treated ourselves to a private room for a relaxed weekend and it was well worth it. Aldea is very clean, the staff are super helpful and it has hot powerful showers. Wifi throughout, good kitchen facilities and great decor.
One of the worst hotels I have ever been!!!. They offer breakfast and only serve coffee. Do not allow to close doors of the dorms, the bathroom is so old and small that I, who am short, hit my head with the ceiling. Furthermore, no soap in the bathroom and the window was broken, so I had to shower with the lights off to avoid being seen by the neighbors across the street. To make matters worse, they do not accept credit card!
