Great hostel, friendly staff, central location, beautiful open roof courtyard, and hammock.

Really enjoyed Alegria's! Loved the aesthetics of the place. The hosts/staff were so great -- gracious, welcoming and helpful. Easy walking access to the rest of La Candelaria. Good facilities. I'd definitely stay there again if I visit Bogota another time. Highly recommended for the price, location and staff!

Had a great stay at Alegria. Staff were super friendly (though come prepared with some Spanish knowledge) and our private room was lovely. The hostel has a cool laid back vibe. Was perfect for us though I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a straight up party hostel. Only small issue was having to wait for bathrooms, as there were only three in the place. Great outdoor courtyard and full, clean kitchen for cooking. Overall awesome and would stay again!

I had a great stay at Alegria. The two ladies who run the hostel are absolutely so warm, lovely and super helpful. The dorm is comfortable, small lockers to use at reception, two bathrooms and really cool antique style decor. I also would really recommend that you do the bike city tour!

Really disappointing experience. The photos of the hostel were nothing like what it actually looked like. We booked a private, which was said to include a private bathroom. When we got there, even the staff said "Sorry this was the last room available". Why even advertise it if you have to say that to us? Did not have the private bathroom, was in really run down condition, very disappointing experience. We ended up canceling a night early just to go to another hostel and get away.

we booked this hostel in advance, knowing we would arrive late into Bogota. however, once we arrived at the hostel at 1 a.m we were informed our reservation had been given away and the hostel was full. The person running the desk helped find us a hostel, but it was not a good one and we had to walk around Bogota with our bags early in the morning.

The hostel is pretty simple, nothing fancy, but the staff is always joyful, beds are okay, they serve a simple but nice breakfast of juice, coffee, fruit, bread and butter. Hammocks to chill, a few tables and chairs on the central patio so people can mingle. Hot water and nice shower. Not too far from the city's center, major museums (Botero, Gold, Gabo, etc.) and plenty of good places to eat around too. 10-minute walk from a major bus terminal with easy access to all of the city. Very quiet.

We got good security information, staff was nice and helpful. Unfortunately the bathroom was not very clean.

Pretty decent place to stay. It's located in the Candeleria district with easy access to the main sights in Bogota. A few blocks north of the Hostel is a cool little quarter with a number of interesting restaurants and hang-outs.

Very accommodating and friendly staff! Appreciate how hard they work;-) Just a thought...It is so chilly in Bogota; It would be great if you had a couple of outdoor heaters/fireplaces since both courtyards are the only common areas for people to sit.

Great hostel very communal and good for making close widths with hour being too big. Very cute dogs. Could be cleaner and more organised but otherwise great stay

Loved this hostel! Felt like family, secure, and quiet location in La Candelaria. Friendly staff and social environment. Lots of experienced travelers here. Love the hammocks and dogs. Breakfast was so so..basic hostel breaky.

Very friendly staff, not a lot of English spoken but could understand the basics well enough. The two dogs that lived there were beautiful! The place itself was very quant and so lovely.

Super friendly and helpful staff who kept the place exceptionally clean. The private room we had was simple, comfortable, and I thought was outstanding for the price. I think it's a little farther away from the main streets than some other hostels but was fine and I kinda liked that---still just one block from snacks and meals and coffee. There were a lot of experienced travelers here and I met several who were booked at this place for extended stays.

A very quaint hostel among the beautiful edificios of la candelaria. Easy walking access to tiendas, attractions like museums, and good food, but slightly away from the hustle and noise nearby. A perfect location in my opinion. The hostel had everything a minimalist traveler like myself could ask for. The staff - Viviana y Reuben - treated me like a friend. The immediate area is quite safe, but as usual be smart and don´t get lost at night. Response to earlier post: definitely two showers.

The hostel had a great atmosphere and it was easy to meet other interesting travellers. viviania and reuben who worked at the hostel were super friendly & helpful. the night/weekend girl was a different story. She didnt do much except hang out with her boyfriend. she did call us a taxi to the airport. the taxi driver that she called insisted on 40,000 when 25,000 is the going rate. We didnt pay it but the taxi driver claimed that she was the one who suggested that price. so just beware.

The dorm beds need to be updated. And the drain from the bathroom cleared up

This hostel is by far the best we've stayed. The hostel itself is great: big patios, great breakfast, and a pleasing atmosphere. What really puts this place above the others is the staff. Viviana is the main lady & boy does she deserve a raise! She keeps the hostel going 6 days a week & is incredibly friendly & welcoming, will help the guests to an end we've never seen. The rest of the staff also contributes greatly to the atmosphere. This hostel is great- no complaints. Best staff we've seen.

Really friendly staff and cheap but why oh why do the staff talk at the top of their voice and smoke by the rooms at 7am?!
