The photos and infos posted at hostel's website and publicities, aren't the same on reality! The hostel structure are very old, poor and dirty. There aren't lockers at room, the hostel isn't warn (in spite of Bogotas weather). The kindly staff are unprepared to help the guests with city's infos. The ONLY good point is the bed sheets, very warm.

The dogs were lovely! Good location within walking distance to everything. Extremely clean. The double rooms are in a quiet separate building down the block with its own kitchen. Great juice in the mornings. Only complaint we had was we were moved from one room to another three times which is annoying. Apart from the owner the staff did not have much English but that's our problem as we are in South America and should have more Spanish!

First of all you don´t stay in the Alegrias Hostel. If you pay for a private dorm, you stay in another hostel, a block away - nobody says it on the website or in the HW. So, the pics and the atmosphere and everything you see on the website make no sense. The security is very very poor, the dorms have no locks, no keys, and all the staff says is that you have to bring your lock from home. The staff comes and goes all the time, they delay to response to the door bell and phone. The beds, 2 bad

Very relaxed, friendly and cosy with 2 lovely dogs. Maybe a little outdated but nothing negative to write home about. Great security!

The hostel wasn´t clean. Moreover the bulding maintenance was not the appropiate. The wost part were the bathrooms and there was only cold water.

Everything was great! Alegria's was my favorite place I stayed in while in Colombia, and I'd definitely stay there again. Lot of character, very chill atmosphere, nice staff (and awesome dogs), and fantastic location make for a pretty amazing little place.

There is a big difference between what you see and read on their web page and what you really get on the place. The staff dont speak english, the english speaking owner came up just once during three days. The staff dont have enough information about the city and around. Otherwise, no problem to spent the nights here, there are 3 bathrooms and quite big kitchen. Just the nights are cold, but I guess thats common for all the hostels in Bogota.

We booked this hostel off the back of its modern and flashy website, which gave the impression it was some boutique hostel, which ultimately lead us to be very underwelmed. Firstly, all the private rooms are in a different building down the road which meant there wasn't much of an atmosphere. Also some of the pictures on the website (ie the TV room) have quite blantantly been changed! The rooms are spacious, kitchens good, 2 gorgeous dogs and v clean, just not what we were expecting.

I came to Bogota to take a month-long CELTA course (teaching English as a foreign language). I wasn't sure where I would stay but I started at Alegria's, figuring if it wasn't good I'd move. The proof in the pudding is I have been here for one month. It has been one of the friendliest, most welcome hostels I've ever stayed in. The staff are like family. I'm going to miss them. I would stay here anytime. Clean, friendly, taking care of anything I've needed - always with a smile.

Great location, friendly & helpful staff-Alegria herself was great, funny and spoke great English! Only downfall, the bed was hard as a rock. Other than that, we were extremely satisfied and was well worth the money spent!

Definitely the worst place we stayed in during our trip in Columbia. First we were brought to a different hostel than we had booked. Rooms were small and uncomfortable. Internet connection slow, if it worked at all, staff neither very friendly nor helpful. Recommend to avoid this place.

Good choice of hostel for location and price. They have two buildings that are equally nice with big rooms and lots of character. Don't expect too much for breakfast though, we got cold coffee and dry croissants!
