I loved staying at Alegria's Hostel. I was very happy to have chosen this hostel. Viviana and Dana are really nice people and I am happy I met them, they maintain the hostel as few people can do it when they are staff. William and the other guy from the night shift are also nice. The dogs are lovely and the place itself is quite charming. I just didn't get the chance to meet the famous Alegria (the hostel owner).
It's a very rustic and adorable layout. The staff was very helpful about directions and recommendations etc. we spoke spanish so had a much easier time asking for help. The place is nice and clean. The one struggle was being located at the top of a decently steep hill. My friend had never stayed in a hostel before and she loved it.
This is an nice hostel with a good vibe and excellent location in La Candelaria. Room are ok but with a smell of humidity. Good showers and wifi. Two out of three staff members are excellent, really friendly and helpful. The third guy however didn't seem to know much about the operation of the hostel. Also he was very drunk while working the night shift alone. He left the premises between 11 pm and 1.30 pm leaving two hostel visitors to guard and open the door (he told them he'd be back 1 h)
I just felt some cold, but they give to me massive covers. Its help me. Bogota is cold.
The staff, are very nice, thank you for everything.

There are too few bathrooms and the breakfast is very light (just coffee, croissants and butter). The hostel is also on a hill but it's good exercise. On the plus side they provide plenty of blankets!
Just wow! The nicect owners of a hostel i have ever met! Go there, meet some awesome people, make friends and feel like home. The owners are just happy people and so amable! Me encanta! Muchas Gracias
Very old location. Had a lot of fungi in our room. Hostel for 1 or 2 nights ok, wouldn't stay longer there.
Go there ! :) it is a small very cosy place with about 20 beds which is so great Because you wont get lost in the crowd and it really encourage conversations travelers in between :) if you Want to stay in Bogota and you Dont own a Ferrari, This is the place to be :) Safe, cosy and outstanding value for money ! Best regards
Good hostel and good facilities except for: - there only seems to be 2 toilets in the whole hostel. Clearly not enough for about 30people - wifi doesn't reach all rooms - it took about 20min to check in, mainly because the lady had to keep walking 20m to open the door everytime, they should invest in a camera and electronic door opening!
Alegria's hostel has felt like home to me. I have spent several weeks here taking Spanish classes and getting to know the neighborhood, La Candalaria. There's a nice kitchen and lots of people cook every night. The staff, especially Viviana, has been so hospitable and helpful for any information or help you can think of. The area is close to so many museums, restaurants, bars, tours and shops nearby. And the ambiance is great--it strikes the right balance between peaceful and social.
Really lovely stay, warm and welcoming atmosphere, homely, great breakfasts, clean kitchen, comfy clean beds and plenty of hot water!

Very noisy. Half of room looked like the photo, the other half had a chest of drawers blocked by another bed. No sign of the hammocks, etc in the other photos. Very little info on what to do in Bogota or elsewhere.
Increíble este hostal! What a great hostel! Incredible people, the friendliest staff, a perfect location to start exploring the city, good breakfast, and all safe! For the colder nights in Bogota they provide you with two duvets and a planket and warm water showers are also available. Furthermore, there is a bbq in the garden to have a party. Overall just great!

For the main floor bathroom, it would help to have a more secure latch inside. There were many times where I saw or experienced people walking in accidentally since the lock is so flimsy inside. Embarrassing moments could be avoided. Also, it would be nice to have soap in that same bathroom. Also, there was someone outside who was trying to get in at 4am - staff should've addressed this as it happened but it went on for a long time. I think he was sound asleep?
Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Plus, cute dogs.
Lovely hostel. Felt at home due to great staff and other guests. Awesome dogs!
Great value for money hostel in La Candelaria. Friendly, helpful staff, good free breakfast. Only complaints were that the WiFi router was not strong enough to work in the outdoor sunny area,

Alegria's Hostel was the perfect place for us to start our travel through Colombia. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The people in the hostel were super nice but not too loud. The house is beautiful and our room was perfect (especially the beds were extra comfy!) for a really good price! For New Year's the "hostel mom" cooked us a typically Colombian dish that was absolutely delicious! The location is perfect to walk to all sights and museums. I absolutely recommend this hostel!
