Came here a couple of times in December 2012. The staff were okay, had a bit of confusion over payments and they seem to think that the 10% deposit paid through hostelworld was not for them so demanded that we pay it again in cash, but managed to resolve the issue. Breakfast was just a croissant and juice but not enough for everyone. Second time we stayed they had messed up the booking so couldn't stay in the private room we had booked and we know they've had these problems before. Okay place.

I was switched to their second location where the staff was non-existant. There was no one to ask any questions or to open the door (guests had to open the door for each other).

I Came because it was said to be friendly, Well, it was not friendly at all. Service was bad and disappointing, The room was cold and very simple. I have visited friends from other close Hostels. Their places were way better for same price. I Do not recommend this place at all The location is good but you have to Climb a lot to get there.

Nice hostel at fine location in La Candelaria. Staff is very friendly. We stayed in their second building which is at the other end of the street. We liked this building because it was more quiet, but the only disadvantage was that we had to go to the main building each time to ask them to open the door. The only thing we did not like about the hostel was the fact that matresses are covered in plastic which makes the nights very sweaty.

I liked the location of the hostel, it was in the bohemian backpacker centre were you could find lots of restaurants and a few bars. Alegria's has lots of charm and the house itself is very homely. The breakfast is very poor and we ended up either going out or cooking our own. Overall I liked our stay there, it wasn't my favourite hostel in South America so it was a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Bogota.
