I liked this very small, home-like hostel. Probably the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at. The kitchen was always stocked with fruit, bread, tea, etc. and common areas were very nice. (I thought Charlottesville was a great place to visit, too!)

The only reason it was not secure is that there was a younger group staying in the bunk room who kept neglecting to lock the door. I really enjoyed my stay and loved all the recommendations and friendliness of the staff. It was a perfect location for jumping off to see many of the local sites. I would definitely go back again.

This is a magnificent "hostel" - it's simply a freestanding building of one huge room with 3 bunk beds, bathroom and little kitchen. The bottom bunks are doubles - my mattress was a futon, heaven! The place is beautifully decorated, spotless and cosy. Staff are great, you can walk to town, it's a blessing in an area with not many hostels, especially in winter. The hostel has it's own YouTube video, artily shot in summer, making me wish I could've been in Charlottesville to see trees with leaves!

I enjoyed my stay at the Alexander House, the staff were accommodating and helpful, the location was good, and the value was great. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who needed to stay in Charlottesville.
