What a mess. It's right near the train station, which is a plus, and one of the only good things going for it. The interior is extremely shabby, peeling paint and stained carpets. The rooms extremely small. The door handle on the WC on our floor was broken and the girl at the desk didn't know what to do. She was not very helpful in general. Breakfast was a few loafs of bread, generic Nutella and vending machine coffee. All the other guests looked like they collected unemployment and lived there.

Just the facts: 1)Ordering a room and notice that will later could not get the code to access the room (sent 3 letters).Arriving after 17 you can not get into the room! 2)I paid for the cancellation but could not take it! This service has been inactive: ( 3)notify the hotel that I would be on the road all day without access to the internet and come into the Anwerpen I learned that my order is canceled hostel! Absurd! I have not visited this hostel, otherwise my review would have been even longer!

In general the stay at the hostel was okay. Their system isn't organise and they don't give you a room according to your booking. The hostel is pretty big and there's only one cleaning lady, so the hostel is never really clean. After 17.00 the reception is closed, and you need to get in with a code. There were also homeless old men living/staying in the hostel. Location was fine, we walked almost everything. The hostel is fine for two nights, but it just isn't a good hostel.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The hostel policy is to only staff the front desk from 8-5. My roommate, recently released from prison, used drugs in the room. With no staff on hand to address the issue, I had no option but to involve the Police and pay to stay at a nearby hotel. The hostel has done nothing to reimburse me or rectify the situation. VERY UPSET.

We didn't have any lights. The room was clean, breakfast was great, and the beds were nice but we went two nights without lights. We also didn't like the fact that there was no one there after 5. Who were we supposed to ask if there was a problem? Such as not having electricity?

The room was nothing like the photos. It was very small and at first on our first night the bed broke into two pieces... after changing room we where in a smaller, more like a cage, with no electric sockets.. whats the point having free wifi if recharging is impossible?! The breakfast was very cheap and the sheets were not clean... I have been to hostels with the same price and they were 5star hotels compared to this one... NOT GOOD! only the location is convenient...

this hostel couldn't find our reservation when we turned up, staff were extremly unhelpful didn't even advise us on any where else to go, luckily the antwerp central youth hostel had spaces, and might i add is an amazing hostel, really new and clean. definatley don't recommend this hostel, the person that we talked to also said he didnt even work there it was as if the person that worked there couldnt be bothered to talk to us, dont stay here!!

Unfortunately the floor of the hostel stank like a cesspit. Even though it didnt stink in the room i was always holding my breath getting there. So I cant recommend the New International youth Hostel.

Didn't feel very safe staying in this hostel; they take in Antwerp residents who can't afford permanent housing, and the lock on the dorm I stayed in wasn't very secure. It wasn't dirty, but it didn't smell very clean, and there was not toilet paper in many of the bathrooms. The reception desk closes at five, after that you have to use a code to get in. Good news was that they did have wifi in the rooms, and breakfast (even though it was very basic).

At first sight, the hostel was ok, but there were some creepy people during the night that they didn't even rented a room and were let in by others. Also, it's a YOUTH HOSTEL, and the youth part was the least represented. There were also notifications of stealing. We also found bed bugs the last night of our stay, and that is a serious health problem, not only because they can bite during your stay, but because the users of the hostel can spread the plague to other places.

This place could use 1) some more lighting in the hall ways (with steep narrow stairs it quickly becomes dangerous) 2) a little water pressure in the showers (water was barely falling out of the shower head) 3) a little character / effort in the common room (seriously, there was some tinsel slung over an empty bookshelf, a couch that was falling apart in front of a sad little outdated tv, and a very non-descript table with a few chairs around it) A little effort would go a long way.

BACKPACKERS PLEASE READ***** It was beyond horrible. The location was not near the city center at all. In fact NOTHING seemed to exist within a km radius of the place; no cafes, restaurants, even bakeries. Next, the door to our room would not even lock and there were no lights in the stairway which not only is a safety hazard. People staying at the hostel were old or had young families and seemed to be using the hostel like a shelter than an actual hostel. the common room was also abysmal.
