This is definitely somewhere different to stay! The hostel has the big outdoor movie screen showing a free indigenous movie about Aboriginal culture nightly.
It has an attractive outdoor area and swimming pool, all adding to the relaxed friendly atmosphere. All the rooms are air conditioned, and there is a BBQ, internet access and tour desk.
In a very central location, you can easily explore all the sights of Alice Springs from the YHA. The hostel is close to shops, cafes and pubs. Base yourself here for exploring the Western McDonnell Ranges including Simpsons Gap and Glen Helen, or for trips to Ayers Rock. YHA Alice Springs was the perfect base for exploring the little town. It's a decent walk to the telegraph station and near the town center. It has security fence that keeps out undesirables in the evenings since Alice can be dangerous at night. The room was slightly on the small side but well ventilated with windows and clean. The only downside was that sound carries through the walls a little and it gets loud if you're on the courtyard.
