Having stayed in many hostels, this was the dirtiest hostel we stayed in, and not only this, one had to cope with the metro train noise at the back door every 5 minutes. The cat on the eating table wasn't a good look. This hostel goes in my list of "where to go if your passion is culture". The owner, Lisa, is a rare gem, the environment is warm and friendly. Thirty seconds from 20 nightspots and a train station, is a diverse and thriving area, I couldn't recommend this hostel more if you can visit prior to it closing in a month.This hostel goes in my list of "where to go if your passion is culture". I?ve read many others saying that this place has much character. Well, when I was there, I was told I was the last guest, and it showed. She was moving out. All the pictures in the gallery was not in the gallery, suddenly one day the TV and the DVD player disappeared, and I had to sleep in a rom with a noisy fan. All in all, it was not at all worth the $66 pr night, if it wasn?t for the nice dog, and the location: 10 minutes of train to go downtown. I loved the hostel and am sad that it is closing. Rooms were very clean, but bathrooms and common areas weren't as clean. Hard to find a hostel with as much charm! A fantastic find, full of character. Nice neighbourhood, easy access to downtown. Never felt insecure about leaving bags in hostel. Great dog too! great spot! The hostel is great because it's like your own apartment but in a sweet art gallery. the train isn't too bad--it does run 24-hours and puts an early start to your day. it's in a trendy/hip area of town with some good shopping, thrifting, and good eats. I recommend it for sure.great spot! The owner should warn guests that an initially scary dog is on site (and a cat). It is also extremely noisy. Between the El train, the barking dog, the noisy bar/band rehearsal space next door, the terrible warehouse acoustics, and the plywood walls, a good nights sleep won\'t be had unless you\'re dog tired or extremely drunk.
