I was there during the earthquake!! The hostel didn t have a single crack...moreover it is a great place to chill, pretty good location and staff! The showers could be better though! Hope a lot of tourists still go to nepal, amazing country!

Alobar1000 has a good backpacking atmosphere. The rooms are fairly clean (like a typical hostel). The restroom however can be improved on. Other than that, it is a good hostel and I will stay there again the next time I am in Kathmandu. Good value for the money too.

I have mixed feelings about this hostel. Mattreses are awfull, bathrooms are dirty, rooms are ridiculusly small and wifi DOES NOT WORK to do anyrhing but whattsapp. Anyways, they have a great rooftop bar with cheap, good and safe food.

Loved it. Makes you want to spend forever there. Hard to leave the hostel even to go sightseeing.

Definitely the place for solo travellers but badly organised. Despite booking online and arriving at the time stated, they had given my bed away. They found a bed for me in a smaller dorm but then wanted me to pay a higher rate for it. Nearly everyone I spoke to had had similar issues. You can get a lot better for the money but it really is a great place to meet people.

Really great hostel, good common areas for meeting people, very close to Thamel area but a bit away from all the noise. Staff are AMAZING

The 12 person room is a terrible selection, it shares a wall and windows with the lobby which gets foot traffic all night long. Definitely push for the smaller rooms. If possible, spend the extra dollar and ask if a 3 bed room is available.

Everything is incredibly awesome except the beds. The food, in particular, is quite tasty and inexpensive. Would not heaitate to stay here.

BEST HOSTEL IN NEPAL. Love alobar, stayed for a week. Great people, location, vibes, yoga and food (yoga with maria everyday at 8:30). Despite the recent natural disasters I sincerely hope the hostel and the staff are safe and doing okay. prayers and thoughts are with everyone in Nepal.

Good hostel to meet people, a stone throw away from Thamel. The beds are awful, the mattress are so thin, but everything else about this hostel good, staff are friendly and they got a big communal area upstairs which is always busy so if youre one your own (like me!) its easy to make friends. And they do day tours and things which are mostly free.

Alobar is a fabulous place to stay! They are great with last minute bookings, the social atmosphere is superb. People come to Alobar from other hostels just to hang out and meet people. Everyone is welcoming and happy. Beautiful place, beautiful people, beautiful day!

Most amazing place to stay in Kathmandu. The staff are incredibly friendly people. The atmosphere and social aspect of the place are incredible. Very easy to meet everyone on the rooftop area. if going to Kathmandu, even for one night, you have to stay at this place.

The good: warm duvets, hot showers, nice bar, friendly staff, really sociable, excellent location. The not so good: bathrooms not very private. Rooftop toilets are a bit like sheds. They run some free tours but they're not always the best orgaised.

By far the best hostel in Kathmandu, don't even hesitate to stay here. I ended up staying a total of 10 nights here and was so sad to leave. It's got the best atmosphere, the best staff, good tours available & good food. Thank you Alobar!!!!
