Nice place to hang out, great kitchen. Everything kept really clean. Location- a short walk between 2 interesting areas of the city and across the street from the free Pumapungo Ethnographic Museum, also a beautiful park/archeological centre. It is on a busy street so some street noise on the patio. And the way that the building is designed, noise from downstairs does rise up to the rooms, but most of the guests seem to be aware of this fact and make an effort to be quiet. Staff is great

Internet quite poor in rooms. Walls pretty dirty, thry only wash the sheets not the topcovers. Only toast, coffee and fruit for breakfast. Much nicer places closer to old town
I arrived in Cuenca at the strange time of 4am and was due to arrive at 10am but they didn't mind and I was shown to a bed straight away. The hostel is VERY clean. All staff are friendly and it's a great location walking into the old town in about 10/15mins. I am a female travelling alone and felt completely safe the whole time. I would definitely recommend this hostel and I would stay here again.
A little paradise in Cuenca, situated next to the impressive museum Pumapungo. The hostel looks great, with a returning octogon theme, great views from the balcony and a massive staircase. The rooms werd clean, kitchen was big and staff extremely helpful.
Had a great stay here, so much so that we extended our stay! Nice being able to walk to the old town and felt safe in the location we were in. Hostel was very well maintained and staff were lovely! Would recommend hesitation.
Maybe the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at. Dorms are bright and spacious. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Because of the shape of the building, the common area is a bit weird so it wasn't overly social. Could do with some lockers in the rooms, as there is certainly enough space to have them.
Had a single room here and it was very comfortable. The hostel was really clean and I would say perhaps the cleanest I've ever stayed in as it was pretty much constantly being cleaned during the day. I thought the location was good for bus station and town even if both required a bit of walking. I would stay here again.
Beautiful and clean hostel with plenty of light. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is in a good neighborhood walking distance to/from the bus terminal and historic center. The walk to the center is not bad at all and this place has charm. Highly recommend.
Very clean, nice kitchen with free coffee, friendly staff The lockers are small and the dorm rooms do not have much space so when full and with everyone's backpacks I think they will be packed. The private rooms looked nice.
Great stay, nice hot shower, comfy bed, towel and soap and shampoo on arrival, great free coffee. Close walk to downtown. Really great friendly and helpful staff. Wifi dropped in and out occasionally.
The only complaint I would have is that you can hear everything going on in the hostel when people are moving around. Other than that it was wonderful.

Great hostel with wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. The hostel has a calm vibe and is very relaxed. Comfy beds, good room size and excellent kitchen area. Location to me was not an issue at all. Good base to explore Cuenca. Would stay there again.

Staff were very helpful and their were plenty of bathrooms and showers that were always clean. The staff answered all of our questions and went above and beyond when I was trying to figure out some photo issues. The common areas were nice (tv area, patio, rooftop, longue area) but not necessarily great places to meet people. More of a peaceful place. Overall, really nice place to stay.
Nice building with a nice ambiance. The location was a bit away from the center. Cuenca is a nice place to walk but the 15 min walk annoyed me a little more than expected. More importantly, it's located on a very busy and loud intersection. There was also a party outside at 3AM. There are plenty of bathrooms and they are cleaned well every morning. There are lockers with locks at reception, not in the rooms. There is a panaderia a block down and coffee is provided, so that's breakfast.
Very Clean hostel with good cooking facilities. Beds are comfortable and staff are very nice and obliging. Location is about 15min away from the centre and hostel is located beside a traffic junction and a late night bar which can be very noisy.
All of the staff at Alternative were very friendly and helpful. It was super clean, the wonderful lady taking care of the place even dusted the stairs. The kitchen was a good size and included a blender. It was a nice chill atmosphere and in a good spot between the bus station and bars/restaurants. I would for sure stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
Nice and clean hostel, a bit outside, but à fast walk. The main thing is that this is be side à busy boulvard and you hear the traffic all the time inside the hostel and the rooms
