Lovely little place run by a lovely lady - very friendly and accommodating. Perfect for quiet couples. Good facilities including kitchen, bathroom was a bit small maybe. Bedroom was perfectly comfortable with sink. Good location and reasonable price. Was quite noisy but that's only because of temporary building work - our host was very apologetic about it. I'd go again.

The hostal was outside of the city center but wasn't too far. It a personal kitchen which was very nice and was rather clean. Overall it was a comfortable place to stay.

The hostel is a short walk to most of the major sites of the city and an even shorter walk to the nearest metro station. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We absolutely loved this hostel. The lady who ran it was lovely and very helpful (though she spoke no english). THe facilities were perfect and very clean, with a very homey vibe. however, there was loud construction right outside every morning starting at 8, buzz saws and the like for the whole morning. We would definitely recommend this hostel, however I would inquire as to the state of the construction. also the hostel is very badly marked and so is confusing to find, a sign would be helpful.

Residencia Alvaro is a homelike hostel with spacious, but cozy rooms. It is in a great location right in the center of Madrid but in a quiet street. We felt very comfortable with the staff always being friendly and helpful, though it'll be good if you know some words in Spanish. The common areas were well equipped with enough bathrooms for all the guests. We definitely recommend this place!

Great place. Got a single room for myself. A really quite hostel, great for sleeping, something fairly rare in Madrid especially during the Christmas season. They don't have much English but don't let that put you off. Oh, the main door is the only problem, there's a very specific way of opening it which was very annyoing at the beggining.

The owner is friendly and helpful, she organised us a room with another hostel when we turned up a day earlier than our booking. Rooms are large. The bathrooms are clean, the kitchen is well equipped and there are designated fridge shelves for everyone. Towels are included and are large and clean. It's with 500 metres of plaza mayor and Peurta del Sol. The door to the hostel inside the building is hard to open but you must turn the key and pull the central doorknob to open it not push it.

This hostel was in a great location within walking distance of all Madrid's important monuments. The owner/manager was pleasant and helpful, though she didn't speak much English, however, as she spoke some Italian we were able to communicate through that language. There aren't a lot of public areas, just a small lounge. The kitchen was well stocked. Madrid is more expensive than many parts of Spain but considering the location this was good value.

Beautiful, the family that run the hostel are lovely, only 7 or 8 rooms there I think, but a smaller place was a nice change from the big popular hostels. very close to what we wanted to see and very much like living in a proper madrid home, would stay there again in a heartbeat :)
