The staff was very helpful and REALLY nice all the time. Breakfast is amazing (pancakes with bananas or eggs with bread) and the beds good. Nice roof terrace and patio.

Being able to get into our room early in the morning after an overnight bus was great. The room was ok, furnishings tired and only net curtains. There was a lot of noise transference, especially from the neighbouring buildings. There was a nice roof terrace with views of the mountains but very little shade. The breakfast of banana pancakes was tasty but cold. We moved there are plenty of other hostels and we found a much nicer one for the same price: double room 70 soles. Not that amazing.

Although the kitchen was a disaster for most of our stay, they did a huge clean out our last day which was nice. The place was very quiet, and served banana pancakes everyday! Very yummy. Located in a cute small plaza. I would reccomend.

Owner Comment (Show)

Great place, nice Banana pancake breakfast, and helpful staff. We got in at 4am and the staff tried to find us a few beds to sleep in till the morning free of charge!

Views of the mountains are amazing if you can catch. Not a party hostel at all, as mentioned, it's more tranquil. In near perfect location, about 4-6 blocks from the center, The breakfasts of banana pancakes were tasty. Didn't have any hot water issues, you have to let it run for a few minutes since it's solar-heated. Marcos, and Lupe were cool. Angelica was very helpful with city directions.. Alex didn't go crazy like "check out time"="get out time" like some other hostels, was like family.

Bathrooms smelled a bit during the day, had some warm and some cold showers. Alex the owner is awesome and very helpful. He called taxis for us and also allowed us to arrive early for check-in

Pro's - It's clean with hot showers an nice massive bananna pancake. We stayed in private double. Helpful manager, Alex us so kind and helpful. Went out of his way to help you. Con's - needs an desperate update. Kitchen was really dirty. Annoying doorbell. Common areas ok. Roof top has a battered pool table. And wrecked sofas. Alex wants to make changes but may take awhile. Expect basic but clean and eat out or endure the kitchen Manager wants

Thanks for your comment to help us do better. about the kitchen, keep in mind that common kitchen is where all the guests prepare their meals and some do not clean, overall the kitchen is always kept clean. the roof is closed by rain and is not enabled and now change the climate which we have just renewed with pol table and chairs and tables new with nice view of the city, the hostel has many common areas and good facilities and spacious rooms with bathroom and comfortable, so it could not be basic

The staff are more concerned with booking a trip to the canyon rather that doing any work like cleaning. Facilities are run down, kitchen is left filthy by the staff and the only person who does any work is the gorgeous woman who tries to keep on top of the cleaning. Roof top views are great, but this place doesn't deserve to be top rated.

We stayed there for nearly a week due to illness. Alex and the rest of the staff was very helpful and we could stay in the same room all week, even though we only booked for 2 nights at the beginning. (When Alex new about the illness we had the room as long as we wanted it). The breakfast is excellent and the hostel is in a nice and quite location just 8min from the main plaza. Arequipa is a lovely city and much different/modern from the rest of Peru, that we visited. I can only recommend it.

Alex the owner was a great source of knowledge about Arequipa and the surrounding area. The breakfast is brilliant and the location is great. Be careful with the laundry service as mine was mixed in with someone else's washing that had something red in it, which then coloured a couple of my shirts red.

Our family of 4 stayed here before and after Colca Canyon. Alex was very helpful and arranged our tour with Marcos, who did a great job. We had private rooms for the first night with great beds, good bedding, and spotless bathroom with good water pressure. Great banana pancakes! Cons include the abandoned, empty swimming pool, cigarette smoke wafting into the bedrooms from the common area (maybe they could smoke on the roof or not at all), lace curtains (no privacy), and no hot water in the am.

The hostel owner, Alex was so helpful. He organised everything for us and went so far out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. The hostel is a family run business and the whole family are reliable, friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Alex is a tour operator so he can easily co-ordinate treks and tours and even buses. We trekked up El Misti Volcano with a guide very cheaply. He also let us stay in a room after checkout for no charge because we were so tired.
