The hostel was really lovely. The atmosphere was nice. My only downside was that the dorm was tiny. It was hard to even find a place to put your bag! Other than that it was great. Very clean, the staff were helpful and it was pretty cheap.

Excellent hostel with a superb and dedicated staff, good location and great atmosphere.

Amazing, best hostel ever! Super clean and friendly staff. The owner is fantastic, super friendly! Great balcony with hammock and beautifully decorated. Perfect location as well.

Excellent stay with welcoming staff. Location close to Table Mtn. along with numerous pubs and restaurants. Gated for those with car rental.

Although this hostel delivered pretty much on everything (great staff, location etc.), for us it lacked an atmosphere of a typical hostel as there was almost no one handing out in the common areas hence we didn't get to know other people. Apart from that - great place to stay to explore the city

a great place. Not maybe the best i ever stayed but surely in the top ten. the dorms are really cool even if the upper bunks don't havd the same "facilities" as the lower decks. I suggest you add some more storage, hangers to the upper beds too and plugs too maybe. Good stuff, fair breakfast and awesome shower. lovely communal areas with strong wifi everywhere.

Probably the best value for money you can get in cape town. Staying here felt like home. I'm not surprised they are booked out early. Definitely recommend this hostel!

Loved it . Very relaxed place with helpful staff at a perfect location

All around great stay. In a safe area (we parked on the street with no worries), a short walk to trendy restaurants, grocery store, laundry, etc. Staff was extremely helpful with planning day trips, hostel has a nice, laid-back, homey feel. Bathrooms were kept very clean. More sinks would be nice, but we never had a wait for a shower, and there was plenty of space to change in the individually locked shower rooms. It does get a bit warm in the summer, so open the windows for ventilation.

I felt very comfortable, welcome, and at home here. Thanks!!

It's very easy to see why Amber Tree Lodge is rated so highly. The owner was a ultra friendly and very helpful. I've stayed in dorm beds in hostels all over the world but I can't recall beds that were as comfortable as Amber Tree Lodge. The free breakfast, coffee/ tea, satellite TV & free computer were all a nice touch. The outside areas upstairs and garden are really quite lovely. If that wasn't enough, there are a number of good bars, cafes, and restaurants within close proximity. Amazing!

I cannot rate this place highly enough. The staff are lovely, the location is amazing, everything you need is there and the whole place was cleaner than an NHS hospital

A great little hostel. Quiet & considerate travelers were staying here. A simple breaky. Both Wayne & Steven were very helpful. Not far from Long Street, & area felt quite safe at night. But one should always be vigilant - crime does occur. Highly recommended.

The owner was great and super helpful, as were all of his staff. Beautiful place, not too huge so it maintains a cozy intimate feel. Great kitchen (which not a lot of hostels have), living room and patio area. It feels a bit like you're a guest in someone's house in a great way. The only drawback I saw was that my dorm was a bit crammed, but all you're doing is sleeping there anyway and it's great value for 160 rand. If you're looking for more of a party scene, check out Once in Capetown.
