The washroom floor had blood beside the garbage can when we checked in. We were hoping they might just be paint stains but when they were gone the next day we were very disgusted. Not sure why they weren't cleaned before we checked in. My friends bed had clothes tags from previous guest so not certain sheets had been washed either.

We loved our stay in this hostel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of advice about what to do in El Calafate and how to get to our next destination (Chile). The rooms and kitchen we cleaned everyday and were spotless. It's a very short walk into the centre of town. They even found us a new room to sleep in when our roommate was snoring too loudly!

We had a lovely time at this hostel. The young girl from Buenos Aires was extremely helpful and friendly during our stay. The staff was great! They have a pretty good breakfast (although, no fruit) and the rooms are very clean. The location is good and the staff is more than happy to help you plan your stay with excursions and getting to the next destination.

This was a great place to stay. On our arrival, Rafael really helped us plan our time at Petito Moreno, and worked with us to plan time at El Chalten. He was incredibly helpful.

A great hostel - within hours of arriving I had my glacier trip and next two buses all booked! I think they may charge you for the service so I'd check that out next time but it was great to have everything made so simple and the staff were brilliant at explaining everything. Common areas are great - really cosy with loads of space. The kitchen could be better equipped for cooking, but i guess most people don't spend too long here. Easy walk into town, had no problem walking to the bus station.

The hostel is a great place to stay in El Calafate, the staff is really nice and helpful. The only bad things is that sometimes the kitchen is to small for all guests and the short walk to town center. I would really recommend America del Sur hostel.

Staff were super helpful and sit you down when you arrive to talk you through the areas many activities. Ensuites to the dorms were clean and beds warm and comfy - sometimes it was even a little too hot! Following pn from others comments though, they do have a significant fly problem in the kitchen, their bbq is over priced and the walk up the hill with a backpack isn't fun - it's for trekkers though, so should be more than capable! I still stayed there knowing all that though and enjoyed stay

Had a fantastic stay here. Our room was perfect, bathroom was very clean and the shower was top notch. Nadia was very helpful in organising our trip to the glacier and also our onwards bus journey to Bariloche. The hangout area is really chilled - has a chalet feel to it. Only downside is that it is a little far from the centre.

Loved this hostel! Great location and the rooms were lovely with each having a private bathroom. Great breakfast too, only negative was that the wifi was really bad and the staff unfriendly

Very cosy hostel, enjoyed relaxing here for a few days and staff were very helpful at organising trips and bus tickets etc. Being up the hill out of town a little is really not a problem as it is not far at all.

Great hostel. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable! Though the location is a few minutes from town, I quite preferred it as the view is lovely! The hostel itself is a great set up, very cool cabin-like house. The kitchen was quite crowded at times, and the kitchen facilities were lacking(need a few more knives and dishes, etc. for the size of hostel it is), the fridge was absolutely packed to the maximum.

We stayed here because we stayed in the one in BA and loved it. Although we weren't expecting the same standard we were disappointed with the hostel. The overall hostel is wicked, the rooms are great and are always clean. The kitchen is grim, even though they say its cleaned everyday, dead flies everywhere and hardly any equipment to cook with. The communal area is cool and the views are incredible and the staff are great.

Great hostel with amazing views only a short walk from town. Incredible staff, always willing to help out and book tours etc. We were in a private room which was located in a little house at the back of the hostel with its own kitchen and lounge room. They put on BBQ each night which is a little to expensive for backpackers every night (100p). All in all, great hostel, I would stay here again.

Pros: Loved having a bathroom in the room, cute sink. Hang out areas were nice, good WIFI. (Almost) all of the staff was really friendly =) Definitely has lots of character. Cons: Kitchen is a bit small. I wouldn't recommend the asado, even though it's all you can eat. There is DEFINITELY a fly problem, I wanted to supply them with like 50 fly traps. During meals you could look at any one cluster and count like 10? of them. Not sure what was up with that.

As others say, the hostel is a few minutes away from the centre, but I am sure you've walked further for other hostels, so don't worry about it. In any case, the views are worth any effort. Outstanding sunsets and sunrises. Great breakfast, great staff and decent internet. Very clean and like its sister hostel in BA, very organised and modern. One complaint: the flies. SO MANY FLIES! Get some fly paper guys! It's a little unpleasant to share with so many insects buzzing around.

Best hostel in Argentina for now. Really welcoming staff, awesome facilities, feels like a home sweet home. (+hostel parilla libre every nights, slightly too expensive, but still super good, if you have the budget!)
