There is no elevator (From my point of view, hostel should notice about it). There is one shower on the floor, where more than 30 people live.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hostel had a very unique and personal feel to it. The room was fairly bare bones, but certainly adequate. I enjoyed my stay a lot.

We booked a room with 3 beds. Upon arrival they offered as two separate rooms - a single and a double! We didn't take the single one but they still charged the whole amount. Our "room" didn't have a window... well, technically there was a window, but there was a concrete wall about 15 inches behind it - I just don't know how this could be... So be prepared to have no natural light and no view at all. Towels had stains and we preferred to think that this was just rust.

I really enjoyed my stay in the american dream hostel ! The place was clean, the breakfast really good with a wide range of products (waffles, toasts, eggs, cereals, etc.). People I met were nice and respectful of each other. The common areas and the room were always clean.

One of the bests hostels I've ever stayed in. Place is cool, it's all clean, staff is very helpful, breakfast is amazing. Location is highly convenient, really close to a subway station and close to pretty much everything. Will be back there when I go back to the city.

Great location, good breakfast and free wifi (did not have both in 3x more expensive hotel near empire state). Hot water in the shower on the 2nd floor was a bit tricky, because you had to wait for a couple of minutes before it became hot and then the water temperature did not stay the same, so you had to adjust it a bit every minute. This may had to do with the floor that I was on, you could also shower on an other floor. Other than this small issue the hostel was perfect value for your money!

Great value for money hostel. The room was clean when we arrived but were not cleaned during our stay (10 days). It was no problem, though. The kitchen and shared toilets and bathrooms were always clean. The included breakfast was good with a large selection of cereal, bread, etc. We have only tried this hostel, but based on reviews of other hostels this one seems to be the best value - and we would not hesitate to use this again if/when visiting NYC again.

Not having an elevator is the worst in this hostel, specially if you are a girl and you are traveling by yourself!! On the other hand breakfast is great (amazing waffles, eggs, etc.), cleanliness is good. Nice location and good atmosphere.

This place is pretty easy to find and near metro stops. It is clean and not much wrong with it. The breakfast is the best I have seen and really fills you up. I would definitely recommend staying here. It is a bit pricey, but that is New York for you!

The ADH is a small inn style hotel, which is rather big for an actual hostel. Its clean, comfortable, the staff are nice and helpful, its location is excellent, and they serve very good breakfast; they also have a luggage store room for free which comes handy the day you check out. The only things I should warn you are the fact that it is not a place to mingle or meet other friends due to the lack of a good common area, the bunkbeds are very noisy and screechy but fair enough to crash in.

This is a nice hostel, more of a shared bed and breakfast however - would be difficult to meet people if travelling by yourself, not exaclty a super busy common room. Nice and clean and comfortable however. Good luck getting to sleep in NYC.

We loved our stay in that hostel, they were very welcoming, the breakfasts were great and it was always perfectly clean. And the location was perfect, 5 minutes away from flat iron building... Definitely a place to recommend!
