Good address ! I've stayed in 4 or 5 hostels in NYC before this one and it's the best value for money.

We all enjoyed our stay at american dream hostel very much. Our room had no window, but that was no problem, because we only stayed there to sleep. There are rooms with windows, ask before you book. Everything was very clean, the kitchen, restrooms etc. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the guys who cleaned and fixed everything, as soon as it was broken. We also felt very safe there and the other guests were friendly and polite, so that we could sleep at night. We´ll come back!

The hostel was very clean and the breakfast was very good. As it is only 2 blocks away from the subway I felt very safe walking to the hostel in the evening. The towel did appear dirty with brown stains all over it but I was reassured it was just rust stains, it smelt clean. I felt safe there which was the main thing, would definitely stay again.

The cleanest hostel I have visited in the US.The bathrooms and sheets/towels smelled like bleach!I stayed in a private room alone with a bunk bed. I had to double up the mattresses just to get a comfortable night\'s sleep. I had one heavy suitcase that I had to carry up two narrow flights of stairs. This wasn\'t mentioned to me when I made the booking. I\'d often feel dizzy because the floors were lopssided and the building seems like it can just tip over. Also..walls are paper thin. Bring earplugs

This place was extremely clean, probably the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. The room was small (but what do you expect for NYC) but cozy, the staff was very accommodating. I could not get the Wi-Fi to work so I told the girl at the desk, she reset the router and it worked perfectly. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. I stayed in a private room for two, but I wanted to sleep in the same bed as my girlfriend so they gave me a roon with a double bed on the bottom bunk which was nice.

Great location. The walls are paper thin, and street and fellow hostel goers noise carried. The shower was disgusting, making the water back up because the drain was clogged.

Had a very nice stay. Breakfast was really good, more than I expected. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Only real down side for me was the cleanliness of towels. Big stains and holes. As I work in housekeeping my self I understand that its not always easy to see every small mark but these marks weren't small. Please buy new ones!

Decent hostel, much better than what tripadvisor has to say about it. You really need to clean that up as I almost didnt book with you because of all the bad reviews on there.

Unfortunately I cancelled my travel but I would like to say that I am very happy with the hostel because They were very polite when I needed to talk with them by email. They understood and answered quickly my doubts.

My stay at the American Dream Hostel was great. I particularly appreciated Perry at the front desk, who helped me with directions to things I wanted to see in NYC. Thank you!

Great place to spend a few nights. Excellent value for money right smack dab in the middle of manhattan, roughly 1;30 mins from 2 diff subway lines. Close to many restaurants and bars. Dorms were nice, clean and good bathroom access, lockers in room. The one drawback was a slight lack of common areas (though there is a small kitchen with b-fast and an IT room). Recommended for Midtown stay!

This is a great budget option for New York - the staff were friendly, the breakfast was good, there was wi-fi throughout, the bed was comfortable, it was very clean and they weren't mean with the pillows and towels! There are many shops/cafes in the local area and it's very close to the subway. The area felt safe enough to walk around alone. The only downsides were clunky pipes and intermittent TV signals but I've experienced these in other New York hotels so I guess it's a common problem.

Rooms are tiny, but all you need is a bed. They even have a sink and a tv (with cable). The bed is comfortable and clean. There's a wonderful kitchen where you get free breakfast in the morning, and they have pretty much everything: bread, cereal, milk, marmalade, eggs (and a stove!) etc. The bathroom was spotless, even though it's shared. I really enjoyed my stay, even though it's only for a night (due to lack of available rooms then). Location is awesome too. Would recommend for tight budget.

I really enjoyed this hostel. It is in a great location! And I loved that the breakfast had so many options: fruit, cereal, waffles, etc. Although the bathrooms were a bit small, I didn't mind and found that having toilets separate from showers was a plus.

We loved staying at this hostel. The "american dream" atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very helpful with any questions we had. We felt very safe and were happy with our stay.

I enjoyed very much my stay in this hostel. Everything was clean (toilets, showers, kitchen, room...) I was surprised how quiet it was too, in the "city that never sleeps", and I needed it. Thank you for your welcoming smiles! I felt at home. I will come back! My comment in French: D'une tranquillité, cette auberge est très propre, les gens sont accueillants! J'ai beaucoup apprécié! J'y retourne, c'est sûr!
