This hostel was AMAZING - more like a B&B than a hostel. The supplied breakfast was fantastic - such a variety of choice, we could'nt believe it. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are clean, very secure, brilliant location (especially for subway hopping) - when I visit New York again I am definitely staying here.

Breakfast is excellent. There is plenty of choice and variety and is available until 11am. My private room was small but big enough for one person. My only complaint is the street noise but since this is NYC it is to be expected. Bring your ear plugs and you will be fine. Toilets and showers were kept very clean and there was never a wait.

Staff was helpful but sometimes didn't put guests as the priority. No organised activities in the hostel.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very nice. During all day you will find fruit, cookies, hot coffee and tea in the kitchen. I have never stayed in a hostel that offers you so many nice things to eat. I stayed in a private room, that was clean and comfortabel. The hostel is very well located in Manhattan. Easily you can go wherever you want. Subway and bus have stations near. The neighborhood is secure.

Very good place to be: very nice staff and atmosphere, good breakfast, top location, clean. Next time I will go there again. Much more cheaper and better than a hotel in Manhatten.

I really enjoyed my stay at American Dream Hostel. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to 2 different subway stations that can take you all over New York. I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm, the bedroom and bathroom were cleaned daily. Breakfast was great: ceral, fruit, waffles, toast. Free wifi worked well in all areas of hostel. The only down side was that there was no common room which made it hard to meet people. I would definatenly recommend this hostel and would stay here again.

We arrived on saturday evening. The hostel was full booked. They placed us in room 16. In the room was a double bed. The room was very small. There was no place to leave your suitcase. Beside the room was a washroom. At 23:30 hours a hippie start washing his clothes. Walls between the rooms were very thin; so you can imagine how it sounds. We were lucky to get another room the next day on the third floor. The room was bigger and there was no washroom. Still there was noise from the streets.

Very clean, secure and attractive hostel! Very steep and narrow stairs without an elevator, so you better be in good shape, although the staff will carry luggage up and down for you. Shower water always hot and good pressure. Perry on staff was very friendly; the others we met were so-so. The sink in the room was a good touch. The location was nice; a short walk from Madison Park on Park Avenue.

I went to NY with my parents. I like this hostel given its location, cleanliness, and service. Awesome free breakfast including waffles, cereal, boiled eggs and many other options and very friendly staff. It's located at midtown NY and about 5 min walk from the subway. Also although the bathrooms are shared, it's cleaned constantly. Overall I'm happy, except with the fact the rooms smelled a bit moldy.. But as I said, it's likely I'll return to this hostel next time I visit NY. :)

This hostel advertises 3 bed rooms that are actually a double and a single bunkbed (misleading). the guy checking us in seemed not to care, just found it amusing and didnt try to help with a solution. Apart from the poor value ( I guess it's NYC though) the place was ok.
