The staff at this hostel absolutely made the stay there worthwhile. The mattresses however are the worst I have seen in 4 years of travel, regardless of how comfortable they think they are. Overall I would reccomend this hostel.

Super-friendly staff and pleasant environment. Very comfy bottom floor, and seems to be a hangout for a few local expats as well, which made for a nice bit of conversation in the evening. One of the staff provided me with some great travel advice that really took my trip in Taiwan to the next level! Living in the 3rd-floor dorm, the room was a bit hot during the night, but not a big problem.

Very nice staff and atmosphere. Perfect hostel for backpackers, whether you want to visit Hualien or Taroko Gorge (staff is most willing to help you with anything from renting scooters till pointing the sights of Hualien on a map). Only disadvantage is the very thin matrass, but I guess that is a "problem" in many hostels in Taiwan.

Had a fab stay at Amigos, close to everything (shops, train, bus, nightmarket, ocean). Chi and Coxon were so helpful in every way, they would have done anything for me. Thanks !! All you can eat Hot Pot next door is great... Highly recommend you to stay at Amigos if you're in Huanlien. Day trips to Taroko Gorge and Ruesui Hot Spring was great too.

The hostel was located in a very good location. Only a few blocks away from the Hualien Train Station, it is located near a lot of mochi stores and scooter bike rentals. The staff is very helpful, as they gave us a lot of information about what to do in Hualien and Taroko Gorge. This is the place to go if you are looking for an affordable, convenient and friendly accommodations. There aren't any private rooms, but on a day with few guests, the dorm rooms can feel like a private room.

Amigos was such a great place, they helped in organizing our trip in Hualien. The staff could not be beat(especially Coxon). If you stay here make sure to ask coxon to teach you how to play Taiwanese Mahjong :-D

Excellent hostel located a short walk from Hualien train station. Clean comfortable bunk beds in the dorm rooms, good value, friendlly and very helpful staff (including for renting a scooter). Very nice common area with WIFI and computer access. The photos around the bar/room of past guests is a nice touch. The staff can recommend lots of great things to do around Hualien. It makes for the perfect base to visit Taroko gorge from!

It was easy to find, the staff was really nice giving me advices about trip, what to see or where to eat. The also helped me with my trip to Taroko gourge. Breakfast was nice and bathrooms were clean. Since I liked Hualien I wish I could return here

Very nice place to stay and a very helpful staff. Very convient location right by the train station. If planning on going to gorge rent a scooter or go with a tour. As walking it is very inconvenient as their are no paths to connect the different trails and you end up walking on the road and through tunnels.
