The staff was AMAZING!! You get what you pay for. THe hostel is literally a five minute walk from museum square and a 10 minute walk to leidseplein. You have to take a bus or tram to get to Dam square and the Red Light District, but this area is really safe. There was a rat in the room the first day, but only because some people had food all over the place. However, the staff immediately changed rooms for us and luckily no more rats. The facilities seemed dirty, but for the price it's okay.

The staff was rude to not just my party but several others who were trying to check in and out. This occurs several times. The "baggage room" was just piled up bags that blocked the hallway. The rooms were very tiny and the top bunks were difficult to sleep on due to the encroaching slanted ceilings. Would not recommend this place to friends.

Our room was changed for some reasons, but the room we live is nice, and the staff here is kind and helpful. The location of former Hostel Janson is not so convenient comparing to the latter, 15 minutes' bus for the central railway station. The facilities of washing room is poor and the breakfast is so simple: just bread and tea or coffee....but overall, it's worth the price.

It was annoying that they did not have a bar of soap or any sanitizer in the bathroom and the rooms were exrremely narrow. The concierge- or person working at the desk did not know the area and be able to recommend restaurants and bars of all varieties from price to taste. He was very nice, but didn't know much about the city.

I was very impressedwith this hostel. The friendly staff were fantastic and helped me with my bags up the stairs. Great coffee always on. Quite small areas but wellorganised. Beds very comfortable and showers great. I will return again so thanks guys for a great first experience. All the best.

it was the first time for me to stay in a hostel. the location is nice nearby the tram stop. suitable to take a walk in the morning. the staff was kind. the breakfast was alright for the money we paid. but was terrified by the big cat sitting on the bed when I entered the room, other than that, it was okay.

Most awful hostel-stay of my life. Tiny rooms with only one socket per room and non in the bathrooms.

It will be a good idea to hire a cleaning lady or someone to clean at the hostel. Also would be cool to have a living room with sofas. And having breakfast at 7.00 is kind of early.

Well, I must admit the pictures are a tad deceiving. It is very cramped, but that's just Amsterdam in general. The staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful to us. Beware the stairs though--yikes. Like a ladder more than a staircase. But once again....Amsterdam. This hostel is close to a lot of good stuff like the museumplien but it is soooo far away from the Red Light District and other attractions. However, there is a pretty good character about the place. Very...rustic.

There was one power outlet for a 12-bed room, and no outlet in the floor's one bathroom. "Breakfast" meant two pieces of bland white bread and some jam or Nutella. There were no lockers to put things, and my stuff got moved around by my roommates. It has an old, rickety feel, and it smells bad. The staff were nice, but sometimes made off-color comments I felt were a bit too personal towards guests. On the plus side, it's right by the museum district, and several lovely parks, and it's cheap.

The staff there was extremely welcoming and kind. Knew all about where to go and what was the cheapest way around. Best part of my trip was Amsterdam and the hostel was part of what made that experience amazing.

Fantastic staff, so friendly and welcoming. Really helpful! Great location - near the major museums, the centre is easily walkable, there's a great market near the hostel too. Nice and quiet location without feeling like you are out of the centre! No doubt I'll stay here again next time I visit Amsterdam.
