The staff wasn't that nice and they were fast offended and they couldn't speak Dutch. When we arrived we saw we had to leave the hostel at 10 AM!!! If we knew this before, we didn't book this hostel. The mattresses were very dirty and also the shower was.

The best part of this hostel was location , rest everything was average or below average. The rooms were quite cramped , bathrooms were shoddy. Well if you want to spend just one weekend or not getting anything else better then I would suggest to go for it. But just keep it as one of the last option ?

great, friendly staff who were always around to tell us where to go or give directions and 24hr receptionist. Location is pretty good- 10-12 min walk from the city center which is clutch. HOWEVER, beds are pretty uncomfortable- woke up with sore back every morning. Communal toilet is ok but there is only one for about every 10-15 guests. The shower ("douche") was disgusting- definitely bring flip flops if u plan to shower. overall, the hostel is fine--just dont spend too much time in it :)

NO WIFI INTERNET IN ROOMS, i told the staff about it, but they said it was my device, they would check the router, but did not apologize or seem concerned at all. The private rooms are right next to the stairs, really loud when you hear all the guests come home late at night, or leave early in the morning. Bathroom on each floor was nice surprise, did not have too much traffic waiting for the facilities. Great location on safe street right off of Leidsplein.

Wonderful hostel, great location surrounded by restaurants and abrs and spitting distance from the leidsplein only problem is that we booked and paid for a double room and received a bunk bed...fairly annoying as a couple on holiday, aside from that would defintley reccomend

Very nice and clean hostel in the city centre/bar area of Amsterdam. Friendly staff, free Amsterdam map and breakfast. Although there are no lockers in the rooms, you can store your valuables in a locker at the reception desk for free. Not noisy, clean sheets, and (during my stay) no noisy other guests stumbling upon the old stairs so typical for Amsterdam houses like the one the Orfeo hostel is situated in. I would definately reccomend this hostel!

Mold in the rooms, disgusting facilities, everything dirty and smelly, especially the toilets. Staff unfriendly, didn't even say goodbye when checking out.

I had some very nice days with my friends in this hostel. Just the bathroom was not that clean and I would have liked a shelf or something in the room. But location and stuff was awesome! Thanks for that.

I've never stayed in such a pathetic hostel in my life, coming from Prague and Berlin ( which I raved about) I was extremely disappointed by orfeo! The staff were arrogant and never helped with a single thing, always an excuse! They didn't even bother to help a girl who was by herself carry her bags to the 3rd floor! ( since there's no elevator) it was just a very shabby poorly run hostel and I won't go back nor recommend it to anyone I know,,, a bad reflection on hostelworld as a whole!!!!

The hostel is 10 minutes walk from the centre and 2 minutes from Leidseplein - everything is nearby, there is free internet, nice breakfast and in short: I think it was perfect for the money we gave :)

As those written reviews, be careful on the stairs.... Not very modern or popular style, but clean and easeful

Nice staff and peacefull atmosphere (no drinking and partying), no lockers on the rooms so if you're staying on rooms with unknowns it is not that safe.

The staff wasn´t very friendly, the room was too small for 12 people. the only stand out thing was the location, which was near to everything.
