One of the worst Ive ever been. The beds were very dirty. I have a very bad allergy all over my body.

Asked personnel to help with something and response was "I don't know if I can do anything" (he helped in the end, but he said this twice and on the first time said someone else would do it, but no one did). Some staff members were nice though, but sometimes didn't know how to handle things. The whole place was worn-out and dirty. Mirrors were clearly not cleaned and there were layers of dust. For the price I payed I expected more.

We stayed there only one night but I have to say ...Very nice pleace. Near to the city center, free Wi-Fi, shower in our room, fantastic stairs at the building, polite staff. A little bit expensive but I understand that Amsterdam is a capital od Nederlands, and the localization of this Hostel is very siutable for travelers.

There was no key for my room because they had lost it... and I had to pay deposition which I never got back because they said I didn't pay any in the first place. Not true. I was there for 1,5 days so it wasn't that hard to remember. Arrogant and not very customer friendly people.

Location was great. But that's pretty much everything that was great about this place. The room was barely 6 m2 for two, toilets were broken, carpets, sheets, etc were 100 years old. Final touch, the breakfast in the morning frankly doesn't even deserve its name. Leave your luggage at the reception for a day? Forget about it they won't let you... Just leave at 10 and don't leave anything behind. If you're stuck in A'dam with no reservation, this hotel might be an option. Otherwise...

The location close to Leidesplein is really good. However, the whole hostel is somewhat dirty and noisy.

Nice, quiet place to sleep. Not much else. If your looking for a kitchen or common area try a different hostel.

Very small rooms, only bunk beds, not very clean, breakfast not in the hostel itself and only from 07:30-9:00 am, rooms are badly soundproofed, sleeping was hardly possible. Despite the good location, we would never book it again.

This hostel wasn't the cleanest or nicest place, but the staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. Definitely would stay here again.

A quiet, clean hostel in a great location. Rooms were clean, wifi was free and staff were friendly. All it needs is a common room to make it easier to meet people.

cost for value speaking is not very good. it was over priced compared.to other hostels ive stayed in. I would have expected a bigger room and more than toast for the free breakfast for the price i paid. I was there when the clocks moved forward in time ending daylight savings and the guy came in the room and said you all have to check out now. if they ha made an exception for the clocks i probably would be giving a better review.

The hostel are located in a street where there are many restaurants, coffeshops and discotheques, so this is the good choice for who seeking a party. The bathroom is small and the rooms are carpeted. The breakfast is just 2 blocks from the hostel. Regards!

The location is nice near on of the main squares (LeidsPlein) which is not far from the center.. The Hostel spaces are really small , even the staircase is really tight , is kind of wooden spiral really dangerous to use in going down specially !! each room contains its bathroom which is a positive thing but in our room there was not ventilation at all which make it little smelly ..

Owner Comment (Show)
hi lucas, thank you for staying, we clean the rooms daily, and we check the rooms 2 times a day. we hope you had nice stay in amsterdam greetings staff

Had a fabulous stay at the Uptown Hostel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Met some nice folks, too. Toilet was weird and slow to fill up, but not really a problem. Location is good, a bit far from the Centraal station, but trams take you right to it. Street noise was surprisingly minimal, for being in a restaurant/bar area.
