The breakfast is nice, but you have to cook your pancakes by yourself. So if there are 4-5 persons before you, you have to wait too much time. Anyway, this hostel is clean and the atmosphere is good. I spent a good time.

We had a problem with the light bulb in the bathroom going and it didn't get changed. There was a large amount of mould on the walls, so a re-paint might be a good idea. Also, the rooms were freezing.

Great Location! At Amsterdam Hostel there is a very nice and friendly atmosphere and it is easy to meet other travellers, especially at breakfast time while queuing for the pancakes! ;) Definitely recommended!

The building is very old and water pipes made terrible noise every time someone downstars was taking show. People next door were loud during the night and staff did nothing about them. Our toilet had problem and they did not fix it; double bed is really narrow; musty smell inside the room. And they charge additional 15% tax.

Great location, really safe. Walking distance to chinatown, piers and abny other attractions. Staff was fine. Hostel was clean (rooms) but externals as windows, fire staircase etc were probably never cleaned. Linen was fine. Kitchen was extremely dirty and smelly. Breakfast included: yes, but keep in mind that you only have pancakes you're doing on your own (from a huge bucket), coffe and maple syrup. Laundry area was a huge mess: also rarely cleaned. But price to value was great!!!

Probably the worst hostel I've stayed in in years. The filthiest and the noisiest, no doubt. People didn't even talk to each other, didn't bother cleaning up after them. Breakfast included meant waiting in line in a smoky kitchen and laddling out a disgusting dough into a pan seriously in need of being trashed. I do not recommend this place to anyone asking the bare minimum you expect in a hostel.

the location os great but staff could be more welcoming. the kitchen has very little space to sit down. the outside area is nice but also pretty small for a hostel that big.

Great experience except the people I was with in the room were super rude but it's not the hostel's fault.

San Francisco was the first and the last city in our schedule. And in both times we would stay in this hostel. In the first stay we realised that this is a truly overpriced hostel you'll not get what you paid for. The shower didn't work properly, the room wasn't ventilated enough and the staff is unprepared. And in the second time they lost our reservation. After 11 hours driving with a plane to catch in the next day they offered me two beds in a dorm somewhere else, and I had booked a private.

Okay for a night or two but its grotty and run down. Kitchen area is no where near big enough. However it is in a good location but you can find better hostels in the same area for a similar price.

Overall I was very satisfied. I didnt had breakfast because I am not a pancakes fan and thats why i never saw the kitchen. maybe a quick tour with one of your staff members would been great. Or having somebody that introduces you to some people would make a even better atmospher for people that travels alone like me. In total I need to say that my stay was very nice I met some very nice people and I would recommend you.

Location is very good, cleanliness is good. Staff is kind and helpful. To be honest, you may find other hotels around the same area, with similar prices in single room or even double, if you're traveling with company. This is if you don't really care about the difference between hostel and hotel. Breakfast is poor. You can only make your own pancakes and have coffee. So it's like not having it. But I don't regret staying there. Nice place, even though.

Amsterdam hostel is very nice! The private rooms also have their own bathrooms and everything was very clean. The staff was nice but nothing special. It has a great location near lots of good restaurants and cafes. You can easily walk to Fisherman's Wharf and Lumbard St! They have free pancake breakfast in the am too. Cute place and good price for what you get!
