There was a bad smell in the room. One would enjoy a fresh smell of cleanness.

We stayed for four nights in a double room. For San Francisco the price was pretty good, especially if you consider the great location! The only thing we disliked was the high amount hostelworld.com suprisingly charged us for this booking! Better call the hostel directly and ask for a room :)

Nice hostel cheaper than those in the area but with not such good common areas and atmosphere. It's more of a quiet hostel.

Not the best place, not the worst either. It was cold at night and the washroom wasn't the cleanest. The common areas were mostly in the basement and somewhat run down. Almost no ambience. Also the housekeeping staff told me it'd be ok if I stayed for a bit after check out to pack up my things. But then I got charged 10 dollars from the front receptionist for checking out late. Felt unfair and I was not warned about this policy beforehand. Overall a very average place to stay.

It was sad, that the available staff was poorly informed about the activities. Additionally some of them were not even conducted, because it was out of season. Nowhere was this information written.. They could at least erase the info on the white board... Except that, the stay was good, it was clean, easy to access and the free breakfast consists only on pancakes and maple sirup, so you need to consider to buy some additional stuff for breakfast.

A french guy that was in my room for half a week smelled really really bad; staff could post a friendly recommendation in every bathroom telling guests to be considerate to others and keep clean and tidy. It could have helped. Also I missed a proper floor mat near the shower, so the bathroom floor would not get wet so easily. Afterall there are lots of people using the shower.

It's a pretty regular hostel, for the price it's had to beat. Just be sure not to be in the room next to the kitchen as you can't sleep much in the morning (and until a certain point for the night).

I think it would be good if you could accept payment by card. To get a cofee during daytime can also be nice. Everything worked well. A bit noisy becouse of the traffic outside the hostel. Glad I could use one of your computers to print out my bus ticket. Friendly crew! Keep up the pancace breakfast:)

It's easy to meet new people here as lots of young travelers stay here. There is a large common area downstairs, a dining room, kitchen and outdoor common area. The wi-fi works intermittently, often slower during the busier hours in the evening. The staff is generally helpful and attentive to concerns. This hostel is near Van Ness street and Union Square so transport is easy to get to. It is also north of the Tenderloin which is not a nice area.

As one of the cheapest hostels in San Fran this place was great, spacious dorms with lockers and shared bathroom and overall a very good and clean hostel. A few things prevents it being perfect like no reading lights, meaning at night it's either the main light or darkness and the staff were nice when speaking to them or asking questions but I didn't have much interaction with them and I don't know if anyone even went to events displayed. Overall I had a great time here and met some great people

The hostel, centrally located in San Fran, was a great value for the price. The building is very old and has a historic charm, but is also showing signs of its age. The beds were squeaky and not very comfortable, but for just two nights, served my purposes. The free pancakes for breakfast were a great perk! I also met lots of nice people who were staying there.

Really nice hostel for price, especially considering that it is San Francisco. The free breakfast wasn't that great but other than that it is a pretty nice and quiet place where you can run into some really cool travelers from around the world.

Nice place. We stayed in a queen bed room for two. Good with a window wich kept it cool and could be open 24h. Little noisy but safe and calm hostel. Easy to make pancakes in the morning. To bad it was no access to the kitchen after breakfast. Otherwise easy to access and no hazle.

This hostel has a large living area to hang out in as well as the reception area upstairs. In the kitchen are complementary pancakes for breakfast, which are highly appreciated for the budget traveler. There is a large dining room in front of the kitchen and a big outdoor backyard behind the kitchen. The average guest in the hostel appears to be young and from outside the city (Often from outside the country).
