Owner Comment (Show)

Was upgraded to a family room which was great. Room very spacious. Seems a little unorganised...was told we had been double booked and there was no space and no alternative accomodation for us, only then to ring the next morning and reconfirm. The lock on our room was damaged from an attempted break in i imagine. And we were given the wrong code for the door. But, there was a good atmosphere and the bathrooms were clean and there was great character to the place.

Thank you for your comment. We actually had a fire here a few weeks back so the broken lock is from the fireies trying to get in to all the rooms. They are all secure and we are currently getting them perminately fixed. Thak you for your comment

Our room was situated above the courtyard (bar). Music was pumping from here from 9am to 3am. Even though there were signs asking for quiet by 10:30pm. Our door had a faulty lock and the walls were made or wood so the bass of the music sounded louder in the room than in the courtyard. The next day, when we couldn't take it any more, we asked for our money back for the second night so we could leave. The staff member was rude and there was no sign of management on the premises.

I think next time you will be more suited to a Hotel, not a back packers hostel. sorry you were unhappy but im sure if you would have expressed your cocerns to the people in the courtyard they would have been happy turn it down.

There was no warm wather for the showers. In our room it was impossible to close the window (noisy in the morning because of the cars). There was no light in our room! And there was not enough breakfast for everybody. All in all I was very disapointed.

David, the reason for there being no warm water or MAIN light in your room was because we had been unfortunate enough to have a fire in one of the rooms on that side of the building so as a result the fire officer turned off the water and electric and it took a short while to turn back on. You should have been told about the hot showers upstairs that you could use and there was another light in the room so it wasnt dark. As far as the noise is concerned we would have been more than happy to move you rooms if you would have come and told us, and put more breakfast out Sorry you had a dissapointing stay with us but if you dont tell us we cant help you.

Annie's was a quirky hostel, with a wicked courtyard area excellent for having a drink and meeting you new people. The dorms were all quite basic (a little too basic for the price) and the bedding was even worse- BED BUGS! So, I definitely can't recommend Annie's place which is a shame.

I thought the people reading this comment may like to know that we are one of the best when it comes to keeping on top of bed bugs. We spray every room every 2 weeks so any bed bugs found in the rooms have come in on the guests and we do our best to get rid of them there and then. And on most occasions we offer all the guests in that room a free wash so they can wash all of there belongings. In my opinion this is more than you would get in most other hostels and you will find bed bugs everywhere. With the massive turn over of guests in hostels they are almost impossible to get rid of forever. :)

Cool place, cool people. The room could get a new carpet or even better hardwood floor. The plastic wrapped pillows are not so nice - i understand the logic but maybe charge an extra dollar and provide real ones :-).

First time in a hostel. Bathrooms weren't very clean BUT, I must say the staff were excellent and VERY accomodating! I felt safe there and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and safe hostel.

This place is a hole. The bunks were obviously someone's DIY project and there is no air conditioning in the hostel. There was no bread for the "breakfast" so everyone other than the first 6 people went hungry. The duvet covers do not get washed so you will have to sleep without or cover or choose to have a duvet cover that has somebody else's sweat all over it. On the other hand, the wifi is good.

Rooms nice and clean but there is a lot that can be improved, firstly there is no air con (despite saying there is) also the tv in our room had no remote, the over the bed lights didn\'t work, and most of the rooms back on to the outdoor area so it\'s very very noisy until people go to bed. Although there a signs telling people to be quiet. The \'free wi-fi\' is infact Internode- available throughout the CBD. It doesnt work in the rooms, and is very weak within the hostel itself, I actually had to go on t

Could be a whole lot better if it was managed better, cleaner and provided better facilities.

-The hostel inside looks really nice but rundown. -My matress had a lot of cuts in it, and we got only 1 bed linen for each of us. -The most beds in our room were really noisy. you couldn't move just a bit without a noise. -The reception was quiet unfriendly and unprofessional. But just one girl of the staff seemed to be rude and unprofessional. The other ones were nice. -The Toilet paper wasn't refilled for almost 2 days. So i don't know how often they clean up. -the door codes didn't change

Really welcoming place, staff are very friendly and were really helpful to us regarding our day trips. There is a lovely little garden area in the middle of the hostel and some double rooms are around this which is nice. We stayed ina garden double and a double in the house and both rooms were beautiful with TVs etc.

hostel was adequate and had some character, the beds and facilities were comfortable. But some of the staff (i.e. not all!) were miserable and rude. Also had a mix up with beds due to bad communication between staff which meant I spent one uncomfortable night on the plastic encased mattress and pillow with no sheets or pillow slips. Also, witnessed one staff member (the particularly rude one) tell off another quite menacingly in front of the guests in the courtyard. Fail!!
