Anstey's backpackers is the best backpackers I've been to in Durban! The staff rock!

It was a lovely hostel staff was amazing only thing is it was full to the brim with children and screaming babies and it wasnt what i wanted for my hols to be woken by 6 month olds at 5 am when im in a backpackers was a bit disappointing

The hostel is a long way from the airport (45 mins drive) which cost ZAR550 in a taxi. It said on Hostelworld that "close to all amenities and a quick drive from the city centre or airport." This is just not true. However the hostel was nice and the staff were good so its not all bad.

Hi Luke...thank you for your feedback - it is much appreciated. We have to apologise in that we did not realise that our information on our microsite still showed the old information about the airport - the old Durban International airport was a quick 5 minute drive from our hostel and the new King Shaka airport is 30-40 minutes away - as I mentioned in my email to you before you arrived. Thank you for pointing this out - we have updated our information on the microsite. The shuttle to or from the airport to Ansteys is R280 for the shuttle, which is a much cheaper rate than the regular taxis. Our hostel is close to all amenities - there are 2 malls and a shop within walking distance - most of our guests love the walk and have often turned down requests from us to give them a lift to the shops as they prefer the walk. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us despite the initial hiccup and hope to see you here at Ansteys again sometime in the future. Warm regards Tash and Rudy
