With a breathtaking view of Florence from our loggia, the Antico Spedale del Bigallo is a medieval building (once a pilgrim hostel and monastery) dating from the 13th century which lies on a hill 10 km. south east of the city centre.
50 beds in dorms and twin rooms with private bathroom (some 'with a view') in an appealing medieval style.
Complimentary buffet breakfast and free WiFi.
A beautiful garden closed by ancient walls is outside, with olive and fruit trees: pick and choose free our fruit during the season!
Open from the 1st of April to 30th of September.
Check in Times are from 18.00 till 22.00
Opening hours are as follows:
Morning: 7.30 - 10.00 (Only to leave baggage, no check in)
Evening: 18.00 - 23.00
If you arrive at another time (not during opening hours) pls. apply to our reception otherwise you might find the hostel closed!

What a place of history, tranquility, and design! The building and its refurbishments were truly enchanting, and the activities put on by Francesco and Tomasso increased the novelty of our stay. The cleanliness of the bathrooms could be improved, as could the security of the sleeping area: we had some ruckus during the night; all was fine, but it was truly alarming that none of the staff were able to hear what was happening. Overall, especially if travelling with others, a wonderful stay!
