The hostel was easy to find and the staff were very helpful in anyway possible, giving us directions and even soap when we forgot to bring it. Breakfast was good and the room was bigger than I expected. The traditional Malay houses were nice but as it is an old design, the walls are wooden and it is easy to hear noises outside. However the people staying there were respectful and at most we heard footsteps past 1030pm. worth the value of money :)

very nice breakfast and great place to stay! The shower needs a check up though.

Our stay at Apa Kaba was great - the staff is excellent and very helpful. The hostel is very much like a homestay in a Kampong, and is just far enough away so that it is quiet and peaceful at night. The rooms are not mosquito/bug-proof though, so be prepared for that (although mosquitos don't seem to be much of a problem in Melaka).

Friendly helpful owners made you feel like family rather than a paying guest. Simple fresh breakfast was provided. Great location on a quiet street but also central location for the sights.

Despite the lack of air conditioning, it was cooling at night. Toilets were clean. Staffs were helpful with directions around melaka. Even as locals, we found the local breakfast a nice surprise. All the guests respected the rule to remain peace after 2230 making a silent and peaceful night to rest. It's well worth a stay at apa kaba

A layback home stay in the city centre of Melecca! Good location, everything in walking distance. Comfortable, relaxing, quiet, and the staffs are very helpful! Value for money too! If the ventilation in the washroom could be improved a bit, that would be perfect for me!

Nice traditional Melaka home. Hosts were nice and very helpful in navigating the town.

A place with character and very friendly and helpful staff! Location is great, since it is on walking distance from the old city center. It is a nice place for when you like to get a more local experience. We could easily rent bicycles and breakfast was basic, Western with some local food added to the menu. It was great to get a bit of a local taste that way! We were glad we had a hot shower, although it took as a while to figure out how the heater started to work.

Very good Hostel and even better staff! Thank you so much for the great stay. We only stayed 2 nights, which is enough for Malaka. We had a room without A/C and with Fan. Again, staff is really great at APA Kaba!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Apa Kaba. Location is great and staff very friendly. Every morning different local specialties to tasten. The admosphere is very relaxed while so close to the city center. We would definitely recommend this place.

The room advertised as a twin was actually a double. The hotel is basic but good value for money. Nice quiet location. Bed mattress rather uncomfortable but good enough for one night.

If you wanna experience real Malay culture.. Go to Apakaba. You will have a nice room and a great garden to relax in. Although in the middle of the city, Apakaba is in a quite neighbourhood and perfect for relaxing or visiting the old centre. The family of the homestay is amazing! They make the stay worthwhile. Rooms are easy but everything you need. Home cooked breakfast and perfect location. Even though the walls are thin, people tend to keep the 10.30 silence curfew. All in all its perfect!

Thanks for an excellent stay. The location is just great and we really appreciated being shown around the neighbourhood.

Great stay! Very central, but still in a lovely, very local neighborhood. Pretty garden where you can have your (Malay and very good) breakfast and the hosts were amazing. They showed me around, explained the city's history to me and recommended me little gems of shops for my lunch on the way back. I would recommend this to everyone who wants a more authentic experience than a boring business hotel or the typical hostel party stuff.

The house is a very cozy place and the staff is very helpfull and nice. I loved the breakfast with banana cake. Its only 5-10minutes away from the centre with the shops and famous places. With a cycle, its easy to go around everything!
