I would recommend apple hostel to my friends, Its a plus factor for the hostel that the receptionist is a Filipina, very accomodating, helpful and hospitable, I think those Filipina needs a raise, they are the bread and butter of the hostel, they can speak english well, tourist understand them clearly! I'll give this hostel 6 out of 5 stars. I've been to other hostels in chunking mansions but apple exceeded my expectations, rooms are small but just right for backpackers.

Located in the infamous Chungking Mansions, Apple Hostel is the diamond in the rough. A fantastic and helpful staff, decent security, excellent wifi connection, all at a small cost, considering the relatively expensive Hong Kong. Maybe not a place to take your spouse or parents, but good for a budget stay in one of Hong Kong's more interesting neighborhoods.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The indications to get to the hostel were very accurate and helpful also. But my room was very poor. Too much small (about 1.3 x 4 mts, including the bed and the bathroom). Very expensive for the given accomodation.

I have heard so many things about Chukking mansion that make me feel scared. But it only stories. Nothing is bad there. There many people offering everything but they do not insist if you say no politelly. I felt very comfortable there and indeed I will come back as soon as possible.

I had a great stay at Apple Hostel. I paid for 1 bed with private bathroom and it was great. Lots of reviews have complained about the people downstairs in the lobby, and yes they are annoying but if you are a seasoned traveler than it won't disturb you too much. Apple Hostel staff was very friendly, the room kept tight and clean. I will stay there again and will recommend it to my friends.

The staffs were friendly and kind. The only peeve is the lift at the complex, it was very small and slow, able to squeeze in 6 passengers at a time, so a long queue is expected. I was rather worried about safety especially when there are many men of various origins hanging around at the lobby. But the location is excellent.

Very clean and NEW rooms. And I mean really really clean. Sheets was changed every day. Our room was equipped with small lcd tv and also free wifi worked well. Staff was helpful and nice. Hostel was easy to find, it was the second elevator on the left hand side. You can also borrow EU>US adapter from hostel. If I am coming back to Hong Kong, this will be the first place to ask for accommodation.

First, the area is seedy and doesn't feel safe. Then we saw roaches when checking in. Finally, we had communication problems with the staff- we wanted to book a double room for two nights, but instead booked two single rooms for two nights. They managed to change one night, but for the other night we changed to a different hostel. Although we canceled well in advance, they did not credit our one night with the full deposit we paid. In general, the communication between us was very confusing.

Owner Comment (Show)
You booked 2 single room for 2 nights because all double rooms were full. You then cancelled one night and asked to return the deposit but the deposit was given to Hostelworld, not us which is not refundable (pls read the web site carefully). We managed to change a Double room forr your favor, but you don't appreciate after all our efforts. What can we say?

It is worth the money to stay here. Nice location, many nice filipino staffs.. however, i don't like the environment at the ground floor of the building. Alot of black scary men for me...if maybe im with guy friends, il still feel secured...but since im alone, i got a little bit scared..aside from that, no problem at all!

Friendly staff, clean rooms. They clean every day, change the towels and clean the trash, so that is great. Rooms are small off course, but you can expect that in Hong Kong. For the price in Hong Kong its fine. Lot of negative things about chunking mansion it self, but if you want to see a multicultural place this is the spot. Great curry on the 2nd and the 7th floor. Just ignore or say no thanks to the people selling stuff and youre fine. I had no problems and loved the place and location.

1st time at Apple. The staff is very on top of things & when my gf & I showed up early they gladly held our bags for us. This is one of the few places in Chungking that I have ever seen have an office, or that has asked me if I wanted to pay by card. The single rooms are small (to be expected), but the beds are fairly soft by Asia standards and the bathrooms/showers are very good. This is B block of Chungking so you will avoid most of the elevator waits. I have all ready booked my next stay

Front desk staff were very helpful and spoke good english. Boiled water was available for free if you asked. Room was clean. No real character. There was no lounge or way to meet other guests. The price felt high, but was very reasonable for Hong Kong. Hostel located in the sketchy Chungking mansions complex, but there were locks on the hallway and room doors, so we felt pretty safe.

Basically, it is an ideal choice if you are only looking for a place to sleep. The hostel is conveniently located and easily accessible via mtr. Eatery, shopping malls are just a corner's stone away. But, the only thing is, sometimes you have to wait for minutes in order to get into lift due to long queue (always) and lots nasty looking guys while you are heading to the lift (Fine with me, but beware girls!) :)
