Great hostel, very clean. Big dorm-style room, with 28 beds in one room, but everything in very good condition. Make sure to check out the pub crawl, Tim is a great guide.

Excellent place, the stafff was very nice and informative with me, the 2 girls that I met gave me good information and advice. rooms and facilities very clean and safe, the dorm has enough space and was comfortable. Metro just few steps from there so very easy to go to the train Station, no complains about this hostel, recommended.

The hostel was ok, though it was a bit difficult to get up the narrow stairs with a suitcase (unfortunately no elevator). At least for my taste, it is ok for 1-2 nights, but for a longer stay sharing a room with almost 20 other people is not recommendable, there was always some kind of noise or people coming into the room in the middle of the night.

This hostel was pretty amazing. The facilities were all you could hope for in a hotel, let alone a hostel! The staff were really helpful. Thank you Tim and Shauna!

Great location, right in the middle of lots of nice bars & restaurants- we were told by some locals that uptown that its the area to be to go out! Beautiful city, had a great time. Dorm rooms got a little loud late at night, but that was more due to the occupants than hostel! Clean and comfortable, great for the price!

It was awesome! I had a great time, I just think that they could offer a better breakfast with bagel for example because the price for a night is about $35 w/o tax and w/o the fee if you're not a HI member But it's very clean, great location, staff was very nice and helpful... Thanks! :-)

Nice place with really nice staff. They even contacted us before we arrived to change our room to make our stay even better. There is free pasta dinner on wednesday and free drinks on thursday. Really good atmosphere. Only one bad point there is only one mixed dorm which was ful our second night so we had to split which was kind of uncomfortable when you have only one bag for 2 people. Except his all was great.

A lovely hostel, really helpful and friendly staff. Felt very safe as a female traveling alone, and was very comfortable. Only gripe is the nightclub next door, really noisey at the weekend.. Though they do provide free earplugs!

Wifi sometimes too slow. That's the only minor defect. Literally excellent service and interior design!

My stay at Apple was great from the moment I was checked in by the super-bubbly Nicole. This is a very efficiently run hostel (clean, organised events, easy to checkin & checkout, and in a central location). Very easy to get to if coming by Amtrak train to Philly (get metro from outside Amtrak Station to 2nd Street $2) and a 5 minute walk from there. I was reluctant at first staying in a 16-bed male dorm but was surprised how well it worked. Washing facilities were good too.

Nice place friendly staff good location between 2nd 3rd. Wasn't much happening at nights. 16 bed was fine as there was a dividing wall in the middle. Would have been better if it were mixed dorms so that I could have had a bed for three nights instead of two as the only beds that were available we're in the female dorm. I would stay again.

Hi James, there happened to be a large conference in town that week and about 90% of our guests in our small hostel were attending it. Nice people but not typical travelers who want to mix with others and definitely not the usual crowd that we normally have. Conference-goers also book far in advance which is why the Male dorm room was full and that you had to find other accommodations for your 2nd night. Hopefully you'll come back in the future and see the difference!

Excelent. Go ahead and book.

Nice place, comfortable beds. clean and colourful, friendly and helpful staff 16 bed dorm isn't to bad as it has a dividing wall. long way from bus stationa nd mega bus, but it is only a short walk to the metro and short ride there. it is a bit expensive and lacks a bit of atmosphere, but that's what you get with a HI hostel and no competition. :( I would stay again.

Hi James, I think the reason that the atmosphere was a bit lacking was that there happened to be a huge conference in town that week and about 90% of our guests in our little hostel were conference goers - nice people, but not here to tare it up if you know what I mean. That's the reason why we didn't have a bed for you the 2nd night. Also, we're only associated with HI. We're just a Canadian guy and a German girl who met in a hostel, fell in love, married and decided to open our own little hostel. The fact that we're the 2nd highest rated hostel in America tells you that the only thing we care about is our guests We're just a 12-minute walk from the Greyhound and Chinatown buses and the Megabus from NYC will let you off just 3 blocks away.

Nice hostel, great located but they dont give free breakfast, just a few days a week free cereal. They are over priced and could give at least a bagel. The pub crawl they set up it was real fun, they guy leading it was great. It´s really annoying that the check out is 10.30, way too early.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi Daniel, Our check out time is 11:00 am and has never been any earlier then that. There is a breakfast 7 days a week at the local diner where our guests have a discount. Instead of having free breakfast every morning in the hostel, we have free things in the evenings instead, such as the free mixed drinks you enjoyed before our free pub crawl. We also have a free pasta dinner on Wednesday nights, a free wine and cheese night on Tuesdays and free beer every other night. I'm not sure why you were expecting a free breakfast when we don't advertise that anywhere. We believe that hostels are for meeting other travelers, so we do things in the evenings to encourage that.
