located over a backpackers bar... all well & good if you like karaoke/quizzes/dress-up & typical backpacker nights out. but you could imagine that you are anywhere on the east coast of Aus. if you want a more authentic Byron experience there are other more hippy hostels, where you can BYO drink, chillax with some hippies & smoke freely. I gather that The Arts Factory is a good place to do that. If you're after a typical backpacker east coast hostel the Aquarius is actually one of the best.

Really good fun stay, great entertainment on every evening, free meal when you buy a drink but you would want to be a very skinny backpacker for it to fill ya! Good location, within walking distance of everything! Free water refill, free boogie board hire, food prices very good! Overall its a good stay, just found one of the reception workers a bit ignorant but maybe she was having a bad day( we all have them)!

Very good hostel and already recommended to some friends. Wifi very very expensive ! Good activities to do in the evenings! Free drink on arrival is excellent and the free dinner when you buy a drink is incredible- very good sized portions and drinks were a good price! No alcohol rule in the rooms is stupid though! Relatively good location!

They free welcome drink was good, have travellers a chance to meet people and the dinner deals also seemed quite good even though I didn't eat there. The large plastic tub with the dining set that you can borrow with a deposit, is a bit of a pain finding somewhere to keep it. Free pick up and drop off to the bus stop is good but it's close to you could walk

No alcohol allowed but weed seemed to be ok. smelt it by the rooms/balconies etc. I hate the smell of weed personally so was not impressed! i put average for security as the rooms had lockers which is good but we had an incident where non guests barged in our room and flipped up a table, they must have got in from the front, unless there is another entrance! Really not happy! A lady was rude to me when i asked about better wifi signal, she simply replied, "i can't magic signal"

The 'Private' room was falsly advertised! it is stuck on the end of an 8 bed dorm, so its very noisy and no where to chill out.

Great hostel, loved it! Good location, clean, large dorms with terraces. Doors are pretty much always open though.

One of the cleanest places I've stayed in a while and the free meal when you buy a drink in the evenings was excellent on both days!! They make a real effort with free entertainment activities too which made meeting new people nice and easy.

They should have surfboards, longboards and wetsuits for free. They only have bodyboards and that is for children!

Great hostel. I had an amazing time. There's games or activities every night which makes it fun and easy to meet the other travelers, which was great because I am traveling alone. Awesome drink deals everyday and the $7 cheeseburger is delicious and cheap. The man who does security at night was really nice, always greeting people when they came into the hostel at night.

I stayed 1 night in a 10 bed ensuite dorm. The room is big and clean, has 1 table, chairs, 1 washbasin, iron lockers. The bathroom is small but clean. the reception they give you bed linen, a free drink and a free dinner is you buy another drink. There is a bar, a restaurant and a kitchen, all quite clean. The location is excellent, really close to the main beach. Problems: cockroaches enter the room if you leave the door open (as they are everywhere in Byron) and noise (because of the bar).

À party hostel, good facilities but if you dont like it that people arrive late after going out in your room, dont go here! THE free dinner action was really good and the happy hour prices as well! Close to THE beach and everything else.

Such a good stay in Byron! Loved the atmosphere and things put on in the bar. Rooms were nice, a few lockers didn't work and it felt like there was sand all over the floor. But overall a really good stay. Friendly, helpful staff.
