If you are looking for a 5 star, quiet hostel you shouldn't come here. its a youth hostal in the heart of the ramblas so the atmosphere is great if you are looking to meet young people all over the world. the staff was very helpful, nice and friendly. there are only 2 bathrooms with limited showers, and toilets but that was never a problem.

The price is OK and the location in the historic area is great, just within meters from La Rambla and the Liceu metro station. It'clean and you can forget the lack of character with what come first.

With so many hostels in Barca, I wouldn't recommend this one. Ridiculous amounts of noise from the street plus renovations from 8am which weren't mentioned anywhere online or at the hostel and not a great place for meeting other people / hanging out - no alcohol allowed in the hostel. Also charge for sheets and blanket. Not bad but not great.

Hello Caitlyn, Thanks a lot for your comment, Arco Youth Hostel is in a very central Street, on the gothic area. A very turistic area. The big windows and balconys are one the streets. What can we do about streets renovation??. The alcohol is not allowed, or smoke!. This is a cool Youth Hostel, A place to relax, meet new friends, and regain the strength to discover this great city! regards, Arco Youth Hostel

One cockroach, but the room was clean so don´t worry it is clean. The hotel room was quiet due to the fact that it was located in the back of the house. There was a small bar, but it closes latest at midnight. church bells start to ring at nine o´clock. So if you want to see something from Barcelona day and night it isn´t a problem. The furniture wasn´t the youngest but functionally. The room was cleaned every day, also everyday there were new towels. The shower had always warm water!! a lot!!!

Hello Thomas, We are with reforms in the building and the one next to us. We are in the Old Gothic Quarter, in the heart of Barcelona , perhaps because it appeared an insect , but we disinfect 1 time a week all the accommodation facility. The rooms have large windows and balconies and perhaps could enter there at some point to clean the room. Regards.

The staff speak no english. We were in the private rooms which are down the street from the main hostel so I dont know what the dorms were like but that building had no atmosphere, so if you want to meet people book a dorm. The stairs are really narrow and theres no lift so its very hard to carry a suitcase up to the 3rd floor. But it is in an excellent location right beside les rambles so if just staying for a few days its very convenient.

Hello Pauline, All receptionists speak certain English and several languages. We are in a typical building of the ancient gothic quarter of Barcelona, just a minute of all the sights. We want to keep the main structures of the building, which is also cataloged by the city council. The reception is a few steps from the main street. Best regards.

When we first arrive at the hostel the front desk staff was rude and unfriendly. The breakfast is not impressive The locker are tiny, they should inform people that their luggage cannot be locked because the lockers could only fit a small back pack or a few articles of clothing

Hello Ashley, If you read the gust comments, the staff rating is very well. This is a backpackers Youth hostel, youths who are traveling with little baggage, to move easily around the world. The boxes are sufficient for personal items, computers and more. Breakfast is very good to start the day with cereal, fruit, coffee, butter, jam, toast and more. Maybe you were looking for a hotel, and do not know very well the youth hostels. Of course, if you go to a hotel in downtown Barcelona, you have to pay anything more! Best Regards

It is very misleading that Arco Youth Hostel and the private rooms in Palermo hotel are listed under the same heading. If you want to book a private room make sure you understand the conditions: the private rooms ARE NOT IN THE HOSTEL but in Palermo hotel, in another street, and there's no breakfast, no kitchen use, etc, basically none of the things listed in the main description of Arco Hostel holds. Palermo hotel is just a sad little hotel, with no "hostel feeling" and with rather high prices.

Hello Gabriela, in both buildings, which are very close on the same street. The building with private rooms, the breakfast is not included, as it says on the website of hostelworld. But you can pay extra for 3.50. All the services of both buildings are clearly explained on the website. Please read it again! Best Regards.

Hello Wajdie, The building is under renovation, will be very nice stay for your next visit! Best regards!

This hostel was in a good location, although down a side street. Was very central to the old town. Room were noisy with backstreet traffic, but ok. Bathrooms were not always the cleanest but acceptable. Breakfast offered left much to be desired. But the hostel participated in a dinner program for one euro fifty at the local pub. Would stay again for this reason alone but not for much more.

The location of the hostel is excellent and it was very clean. However, there was a strong smell of dampness/mould in the bathroom, I think it came from a drain in the floor. Another minor problem was that the staircases are very narrow, so getting up and down them with a suitcase was a bit tricky.

This hostel is situated in the centre, near the famous street Ramblas, is there good night life, the beach is 25 minutes far by walking. At nights is better don´t go to the hostel alone. The rooms are clean and we were 8 people in the room, but it was ok, I made many friends there. The kitchen and living room is nice, you can cook there, breakfast was good also but I prefer to buy own bread, because there had biscuit. If I go to barcelona I will choose this hostel again.
