Stayed at a female 4-bed dorm. Was really nice room, with a sink and a wardrobe and even a tv. The hostel has 2 kitchen, a nice small backyard, a nice common room. Its really close to the Meadows Park. Shop for Food just across the Street. Staff was very frriendly and helpful.

Great hostel! We stayed in the private double bed room which was really nice! Small but had a large screen TV and a sink, mirror and a comfortable bed. It was also very clean. The shower facilities were nice and clean as well. The only downside to this hostel is the location - a 20 minute walk to city center. However there are buses running very frequently so its not too bad. Overall a very nice place to stay if you are looking for a private room!

This hostel is very cozy and clean. Most of the guests were older persons; hence it was pretty quiet during our stay. Location is almost perfect - hostel is located within the walking distance from the city center. There is great closed terrace where we spent most of our times. I must emphasize extraordinary friendly and fair staff. During the first night I have accidentally left my personal belongings in the bathroom. On the next morning these entire where returned to me. Once again, thank you

Great location right next to the Meadows (a park) and easy to walk everywhere...added bonus is a great little Brazilian crepe stand at the end of the park inside an old police post (just try the crepes, they are good). Great vibe inside the hostel, even though you won't spend much time there....too much to see in Edinburgh. No lift, so be prepared to take your bags upstairs...but staff were great, and the hang out lounge was filled with old guitars and guides about the city. Recommendable.

The owner is CRAZY and extremely UNPOLITE!!!! We have read a lot of comments about the Hostel but even though we tried booking there. NEVER GO THERE!! Their STAFF is crazy!!! The owner was yelling, saying bad words, he does not respect anyone and he thinks that he is the most powerful man in the world!! We were AFRAID of him!! We wanted to call the police because he was THREATENNIG us!!! IT IS THE WORST PLACE IN EARTH!!! You find better places with the same price!!! HORRIBLE!!!

Hostel clean and tidy. Some staff welcoming, others useless. Felt like we were competing with staff for use of facilities at times, staff lunch is on daily and can last between 12-3pm, difficult to use kitchen during this time. Side note- there is a 2nd kitchen. Staff are there for cleaning and checking in, we asked a member of staff to call us a cab- she was reluctant to do so. Great kitchen space, close to the old town and Arthur's seat. Hot showers, great sunroom, would stay again.

what a nice, sweet place! great location, just a short walk from the royal mile and right next to a big park. the staff was really friendly and allowed my boyfriend & I to check in late (just email them 1st) and check out early (just tell them 1st). the whole place was very nice & cozy and i met a lot of other young travelers. highly recommended

This hostel was quite comfortable and it was really nice and warm when the weather outside was so cold. It's a bit of a walk from the main part of the city but definitely doable. I would stay there again.

Everything was more or less ok. Limited checkin is baffling in a hostel, but since I keep finding it in UK hostels it's not fair to complain too much. The real problem was that the hostel had no working heat that I could find, which was a really serious problem given that temperatures were near-freezing. Having to wear a coat at all times and scavenge extra blankets from unused beds is unforgivable. For staying in summer it's a decent choice (I imagine), but for winter steer clear.

We had the comfort and privacy of a B&B and at a very reasonable price of a hostel. The girl at the front desk let us sleep on past checkout time on Monday which was very much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again!

Actually it's good, i enjoyed my stay there, friendly staff, and lucky to met sweet rommies.BUT, i'd appreciate it that if the staff remind me that i should return the keys before 10pm the day before i leave or otherwise i wouldn't be able to get the ten-pound deposit back.( customers who check out before 9 in the morning should have told the staff about it and will be able to get the deposit back at night . )Unfortunately i came back at 2230 and found nobody there. Anyway i think it's ok

Wonderful hostel with a very homely atmosphere! It has two kitchens, so you aren't battling with others to use any of the facilities! The bathrooms are always clean and spacious! I really enjoyed my stay here!!

The whole time I was there, there was no heat in the hostel. I dont think its a priority or maybe its a common one throughout Scotland....I was freezing and there was only small radiators in the rooms--(which were large--to their credit). For over a day, the internet didnt work. The "staff" is only there for a few hours during the day and are unavailable otherwise. For those who dont check in at a certain time, there is a penalty. The front door was not shut one time-anyone could have walked in.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi, We are quiet, happy and friendly place and we are always willing to help and there is why your criticism surprised us a lot. Yes,the FREE INTERNET was down due to an external internet fault which was fixed within 48h but I think that you forgot to add that you got an extra blow heater for your room (heating is on timer and the windows are double glazed), we arranged your late check in and staff member helped you to cary your luggage up the stairs. Reception hours are 9am-4pm during winter.Thank you to all guest who leave honest comments!
