It's really a nice hostel and I've met great friends there! Everything is excellent except that the location is a little far from the city center(but it's also good to go to places you might not visit if you don't stay at Argyle and the city is actually small) and the shower water is rather small(or I didn't find the right way to use it?).

We stayed twice at Argyle Backpackers. It is located about 15 minutes easy walk from the Royal Mile (middle of Edinburgh). There are a number of small shops (fruit'n'veg, coffee, cafe, fish, supermarkets) within 5 minutes walk. There is also a large park area less than 1 minute walk away. Rooms and beds were quite nice. The kitchens were well equiped, large fridges and there is also free wifi. It was a great place to stay!

Very Clean. Staff are very friendly. The bathroom and kitchen are very nice. Although it is not in city centre, you can take bus or walk to city centre.

Excellent place, warm and welcoming. While there is no breakfast included, there is free coffee and tea. There are two spaceous kitchens which are a good meeting point. All in all I would definately go back there when in Edinburgh.

One of the best I've ever stayed at. Quiet neighborhood, bit of a walk through the park, but very safe. Hostel was immaculate, staff was friendly and cheerful, kitchens were large and comfortable; felt like home, not an industrial work space. Bathrooms were large and well maintained. Beds were comfortable. Lots of fun people staying there. Only cons: the internet was unreliable, sometimes the signal would drop, and the TV reception was also a bit spotty.

We were ok with our room (doublebed) nr. 6. on the top floor. During last 5 years I visited around 20 hostels (not the cheapest one) worldwide and can say shower and toilet on 3rd floor was probably the best I have ever seen - clean and in perfect condition. 2 big kitchens! Both of them very good equipped. What I missed was staff. Literally. Well, during all my visit in other hostels I found staff at the desk any day-night time. But this is not the Argyle`s case. They were rarely seen.

Le lit était déplorable les linges de bains douteux, tacher et je trouve que la moquette est une chose absolument, passé moi l'expression, dégeulasse.

I stayed at the hostel just for 3 days, but will definitely book it when I´m in Edinburgh one day again. The hostel is very clean, very good located (Because I travelled alone, I used to take bus 41 to get to the city centre, which takes only 10min.) Stuff is also very helpfull and friendly.
