Great staff. Only downside is if you are up early to climb Taranaki the Friday and Saturday evening party noise may disturb your sleep.

The noise from the bar below was simply awful, i had earplugs and the vibrations of the base still kept me awake until 4am on a thursday night. That's quite annoying if you have to get up at 6 to do a taranaki summit climb which is already quite dangerous without a lack of sleep. The staff was really helpful and nice though! Just don't go there if you plan on any early walks.

The manager was very nice and helpful. The crowd is also cool and festive. The facility is lacking. Soap ran out and no one bothered to refill it. Towel stinks.

Great location, wonderful staff who are very friendly and helpful. Balcony where you can eat and drink, overlooking the coast, great atmosphere. Only downsides are the lack of lockers and the shower is more of a wet room than shower - wear flip flops. Minor inconvenience. Would stay here again.

Location: only average because of the restaurant below. It smells terribly of food most of the day and at night times it is impossible to sleep till 2am in the morning - it is a shame👎

Perfect comfortable place to stay with lovely staff

I felt in love with this hostel directly upon my arrival. The staff was very friendly helpful and kind. I felt like visiting some old good friends. I felt very welcome! Location is perfect - in the center just some meters from the bus station. The terrace was so nice with 1 million dollar view facing the ocean! Facilities are great - big kitchen and nice living room and lobby to hang out. Only minus is live music on weekends from the bar downstairs but otherwise this was is of the best hostels!

Overall I liked it and had fun! Just some things: free WiFi should be available because you pay more than average. That was a bit annoying and I wasn't in the mood to pay for the WiFi that was only available in a few rooms. Next thing which was sad: There was an old long term guest and she was really really rude to many guests without making any sense, at night she searched through the bags of my roommate & made us feel so uncomfortable and unsafe! Dear lovely staff, please check out your guests

Awesome location, friendly staff, great kitchen and lounge; my only complaint is that the bar downstairs was very noisy both nights I was there and it was possible to hear them from everywhere in the hostel.

The cleanliness was very poor especially at the restroom.

Great hostel with an excellent location. The facility is great with a nice patio for nice days and some board games for less nice days. It was really easy to meet people here and is just a 30min drive from Mt. Taranaki. Shower and bathroom ensuite was convenient.

Nice hostel, friendly management. I have spent just one night but it was enough to understand is a good place to stay even longer

We arrived late in the night and the blonde guy at the front desk was very helpful! The worst thing about the whole place was the smell of the turtles in the front office but that was temporary the only real long term issue was that other people had to walk through our room to get to their room, and there are no lockers available.

Great hostel. Loved the towels each day and the first hostel bath I've come across in the ensuite! Friendly staff too made it very welcoming.
