There were lots of long term backpackers in the hostel which gave it a fmaily feel. Very much liked the big dining table in the kitchen which encouraged people to chat to one another. It's a little way out of town but not too far and no further than all of the other hostels. The staff were very friendly and helpful, very much enjoyed my stay :)

This was a fine hostel, although perhaps not up to those set by AYH (they\'re really high). Overall, it was a decent hostel but not my favorite. One of my least favorite aspects was that that bathroom was unisex (there is a separate female bathroom but the other is unisex) and the bathrooms get very steamy very quickly. But overall, an OK hostel. Staff was reasonably pleasant and helpful.

We had a fine stay at ATWBP. We booked a double room and without asking got the "lovers shack." mirrors on the ceiling included. The bed was not the most comfy (extremely springy!) but the room was clean and warm. Location wise, it was close to the red zoned CBD but for food/drink/groceries etc, you have to walk a bit to find anything open. didn't mind that too much at all.

Comfortable, clean, freshly made bed, No charge for a towel, great. Well equiped kitchen. Small common room but two computers with free internet. 20MB free wifi when checking in - enough to check emails and bit of local research. Can buy more. Parking was a bit tight but there is a park on the street which was fine for my 4WD. Girl who checked me in was very welcoming and helpfull. Good luck with the snow season! Queenstown had snow on both peaks last night! Very tempting! (and cold lol) x

i booked within 24 hours using there online booking system. I interpreted that they deducted a 10 percent deposit and then you paid the remaining balance on arrival. Family circumstances prevented me from getting to the chch hostel, i rang early that morning to inform that i had to cancel, but as i hadn't cancelled within 24 hours i had to pay for my first night regardless it was in the very very fine print. The lady was very helpful but i just felt a little annoyed and out of coin. bugger.

Great location, there should be alternate directions to the hostel since the city is closed though. I spent over an hour trying to find the place.

We were there during the Easter weekend and so everything was pretty much closed. but the hostel itself was nice. there was a nice outdoor garden, full kitchen, clean toilets and bunks. the sound insulation between rooms was also good and so we had a good night's rest. the staff were friendly and accomodating. no complaints about this hostel. would stay here again if i return to CHC.

The staff was really friendly. It´s a very nice, small hostel, with a very good atmosphere, free Internet and free DVDs.
