I usually travel around the world and this hotel was the most terrible that I ever stayed. The staff was rude, and I felt shocked when I got to the room... extremely tigh and totally diferent that I saw on the site.At check in I'd payed two daily for two people but I stayed in maximum 10 minutes there. I'd decided to choose another place to stay and I talked politely with the woman staff but she sad that was impossible to cancel my stay. I felt robbed...they charged two daily without I stay there

Great hostel, close to flamengo beach which felt better and more secure as copacobana. Very good restaurants nearby.Price very low for what you get! We will stay here again in the near future.

Positive: Staff is really great and helpful all the time! Great atmosphere. Excellent location near subway station. Negative: My room had dust accumulated through ages; doors need heavy cleaning, too. Mattresses so thin that my roomate and I felt the wood structure against our hips all night.

Good location, great breakfast and if u don´t have high expectation for accomodation, is the right place for your holiday the hostel is close to Flamengo Beach (which is really nice and quiet beach) and in the meantime is really close to Lapa (you can find there nice pubs were to enjoy your night) and to the center The staff is really helpfull Enjoy RIO

The pictures on their website are a HUGE lie! The bedroom for two where we were looks like a cave, terrible... In the middle of our breakfast the hostel's owner or manager, i dont know, were screaming and assuming a really agressive posture with the staff women who were serving everybody...

Location good, public transport very accessible. Service generally good, personnel helpful, cafe de manha good, room clean. Internet very useful. Passage on floor 2 is dark but can see no way to improve on the feeling of 'going down the mine' that the structure induces. Sanitation is aged. One detail - a fan in the room is a fan, and not A-C (air conditioning), as was represented on response email when booking was being made - and extra money being charged - for the facility in question.

Very helpful staff in good location. The room ceilings may be a bit low for tall people though!

Guests making noise in the hallways before 8 am and after 11 hours of the night. Missed regulation behavior of guests.

Staff were friendly and helpful and provided information on what to see and do in Rio when asked. Room was not of the best standard for the price, although Rio seems to be generally quite expensive for accomodation. Breakfast was generous and a good selection of fruit, bread, cereal, jam, cake, ect. Just near a metro stop so most places in the city were just a subway ride away.

The staff is nice and helpfull and the location is great. Good breakfast aswell. However, the shower in my room was broken and even though i've informed the reception about it, no one came e it was broken during all my stay. Also, my room was never cleaned up. They only emptied the bin in the bathroom and thats it. Anyway, i'd recommend the hostel.

The hostel is extremely well managed by Andreas, who has the best team to follow his ideas of giving the best possible comfort to the travellers. Iona, Juliano and Raphael are cheerful and helpful receptionists and every morning you can look forward to the delicious home baked cakes served by Beth and Nilda on the roof terrace at breakfast. I have never met the cleaning girls but we were very satisfied with the work they have done. We are happy to recommend the place to good people.

Don't recommend! We had problems with cancelation since we decided to leave a couple of nights before our reservation ended. Not really professional handling with that situation, neither from staff nor manager (contacted the manager by email but never got a response.) Breakfast plates were empty most of the time and if you're above 180cm you'll hit your head to the roof in the rooms. Nice decorations (sure, it was Art Hostel) but that's the only positive thing about our stay.

No complaints at all. Room was ok and staff was friendly and helpfull. Next subway station is close and a supermarket and restaurants are within walking distance. Would recomend the hostel. And keep in mind, its is a hostel and not a hotel and you get what you pay for.

Dorm rooms were very small- not enough space for everyones bags so was very messy. The reception staff were very rude and snappy sometimes. The bunk beds are very shaky so when someone moves the entire bunk shakes. Also the 6 bed dorm is 3 beds above eachother, so this really shook and the room got so hot due to crowdiness and small area.

The only good thing about the hostel was the breakfast. But because we were there during the carnival, we didnt wake up for it. We still had a good time, but thats just because of the great people we met in the hostel

The staff was f**king useless and very frustrating. One morning i went to get breakfast (which rarely happens because its soo early) and even though there was one or two things missing they wouldnt let me start, even though it was 10 minutes past. Meanwhile through the locked door window, i saw other staff members helping themselves to the simple items which were laid out..... Soo rude. They made me wait hungover in the hall for what?
